Ranieri's Dream Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 11
I think the qualitative differences between instances of the statistical category "chance" are too vast to use that stat for anything meaningful tbh.

If they had HiguaĆn, they would be challenging for the league right now IMO. One of the most clinical finishers in the game.

That's a gross distortion of reality. That's not at all how Arsenal fans behave.
If anything, the negativity, resignation or gallows humour present in most of Arsenal fans' views on their club is in a stark misrelation to their average rate of success.
It's clubs like Spurs, Liverpool and United for whose fans finishing 4th is an earth shattering, celebration worthy achievement.
Arsenal fans take it for granted.
Couldn't agree more.

Disagree. Higuain is a known choke artist in big games. And every game in this league is like a cup final.

this is the worst Arsenal side in a decade + IMO. If Wenger clinches CL AGAIN, give him a new contract.

That's the only type of finals Mule league teams are playing nowadays anyway.

speaking of cup finals, can't wait to finish 8th in the league and qualify for CL by winning the EL

I like how @Firenze has actually given up in trying to big up his own team like he used to. He realized they play like shit, so he resorted to hyping the league instead.

I remember having the same argument with Pool fans during that one season they hit the bar 30 times.
It's bad finishing not luck.
97 times over 4 seasons, 40 in one season.
If i remember correctly, These Firenze excuses are peasant infront of that.

I've always hyped the league, but lately especially, I've realized just how insanely competitive it is, there are no easy games, at least not until Newcastle get promoted again

It's really not. It's probably the best Arsenal side in a decade.

Yep Wenger is massively underperforming.
In fact he's not performing any better than he was with the like of Denilson etc etc lmao.
He's still a good to great coach but that isn't enough at this level.

IDK. I feel like there are a lot of pretenders in this Arsenal side. Only player that is performing at a level that would get into any of the other starting 11 for the teams in the top 4 would be Alexis.

I feel like you feel that because Wenger isn't getting the best from them though.
The fact he's not doing any better than before he had Sanchez, Ozil etc etc says it all IMO.
He's the Vince of football tbh, i feel like Pochettino, Klopp, Conte and Pep would all get more from this side than Wenger is currently getting.

I think you are a bit confused here.
Let's keep things apart here.
One main criticism towards Wenger is that he's too stingy and not bold enough building a team. Pep, Conte, Klopp, Poch, Mourinho all have all the means they can wish for to build a team. But they still are behind Wenger (excluding Conte of course who's has clearly outperformed every other PL manager this season).
Yes, Arsenal's team is pretty good these days. That doesn't mean Wenger is 'vastly underperforming'. Last season the team finished above everyone else, excluding the Leicester fairy tale.
They are 3rd at the moment, on points with 2nd.
And their team is surely not much stronger than those of their competitors. I'd argue it is slightly stronger than Spurs and Pool's, but so far the results (i.e. last season finish) reflect that. He's clearly outperformed van Gaal, now Mourinho. Arguably Pep too so far. United and City have far more expensive teams.
