Re: Arsenal vs Watford (16/17)
Overall I am disgusted in the manner in which we tend to start or approach games nowadays. We always look so off the pace and unprepared. It's basically a lack of professionalism, I can't find any other words to describe such shambles. From the word go we looked off the pace in comparison to Watford who's attitude and approach was spot on. It's even more baffling when you realised most of the first team players were rested for this game.
Look at the goals we conceded for example, you wouldn't even see such sloppiness in the lower divisions to be honest. Sometimes it's not about ability, it's all about the mentality. We have too many days where we just wander on the pitch looking to play football without the right mentality. After this we will get the usual drivel in the interview about they how they must start better etc. Today is the day the season died, excitement gone. Only bit of excitement left is the cups to be honest. It's sad when the fans are more pumped for a game then the players

I'm past the point of being disgusted by things like this because we see them so often. It's like we have a quota of performances to go through every season.
Beating a dead horse with this but it all comes down to organisation and preparation. We went into the game with a poor team selection and didn't account for Watford being more aggressive than we expected. Typically, we're not flexible enough to change the way we play to account for weaknesses and the in-game situation.
Like, we can't play the way we want with a Coquelin-Ramsey midfield. They're just not good enough in the build-up to move the ball quickly through midfield. We've been forced into this situation though so we have to adapt. Maybe we could have changed the midfield around so Ozil was deeper, or play Iwobi next to Ramsey with Ozil out wide.
Against Chelsea we absolutely need to play on the counter. Asking Coquelin and Maitland-Niles to run the game would be madness.

Wenger before the Watford game:
"The players are prepared and mentally focused to deal with the challenges we will face."
After:
“Did we think subconsciously we could turn up and it would be OK? I don't know"
"Mentally, we were not ready for the [physical] challenges. When you play at home, in our position, that is not normal. Everybody in the Premier League is strong physically and [to give] 90% is not enough.”

Nothing is going to change . Wenger already forgot about last year Watord knocking us out of the FA cup and they played the same way.

Anyone else ever realise that whenever we concede it always happens in some form of a defensively comical mishap.
