Top left-backs are hard to find. Grimaldo is a gem. pic.twitter.com/NGC2pOYlNz

Would be a great signing.
In partnership with Bellerin we'd definitely fix Barcelona's full-back problem, TBH.

Re: New Left Back scouting thread
lol Grimaldo looks and plays like Moreno. no thanks Jeff.
Hoping our connections with Klopp gets us Guerreiro eventually when he's in his prime and ready for top level football.

Grimaldo surely isn't going back to Barca while Lucho is there

Re: New Left Back scouting thread
Timely thread. We've been linked with a whole bunch of LBs over the last 2-3 windows, including youth players. Would be interesting to see how this turns out!

Re: New Left Back scouting thread
Fair to say signing a starting LB should be a priority in our next transfer window(s)?
Monreal is getting ripped apart defensively nearly every game and doesn't offer a lot in attack. Wenger doesn't seem to rate Gibbs if he won't start him even in Monreal's current state.

Re: New Left Back scouting thread
I think we need a complete revamp at full back, if you take away Bellerin and Nacho then it's very weak. We did try to sign Sidibe who is a very good player but he was worried his first team chances and went to Monaco instead. I hope we go back for him again because he can play left back and right back, kill two birds with one stone etc

No.. let's not go for those versatile players.. AW will just play them all over the place and ruin it

Re: New Left Back scouting thread
Agreed with Sri.
We need a specialist LB who NEEDS to be technically excellent. Nothing hurts more when fullbacks go all the way up to just pass it back.

Re: New Left Back scouting thread
Problem is that the market is not exactly swamped with quality full backs. We hit the jack pot with Bellerin or else it would have been painful. We will probably sign a promising youngster for the left back position then play the waiting game at right back.

Think we have a kid called ebola in youth who plays at LB. Not sure how good he is.
Grimaldo looks great atm.

Re: New Left Back scouting thread
^True. I would also like Gibbs to replace Monreal at this moment of time. But Wenger doesn't seem to keen on it unfortunately.
Regardless, the fullback positions should be our main target in the next window(s).

What about Monaco's full backs, they seem to be top according to whoscored. Has someone watched them?

Re: New Left Back scouting thread
You guys till want to sign La Masia graduate despite knowing we'll have to keep worrying about Barca poaching him back?
Barca acquisitions in defence are always atrocious, so they'll always be in the lookout for reinforcements, with sidebacks being one of their top priorities as it helps their tactics a lot. So, I'd probably keep Grimaldo as the last option or if we do sign him have a 100 mio Barca-only clause.
My suggestions for LBs, would be two LBs who have been constantly linked with us in the recent past.
1/ RicRod
Good crosser, Good pace, Dead ball specialist and seems to much more composure in front of goals compared to most of our attackers. Wolfsburg are struggling and we can probably get him.
On the flip side, have heard he's defending is okayish, but I believe it can be improved through coaching. He'll probably cost a bomb.
2/ Kieran Tierney
Have no idea about him. Any SPL followers here?
Is younger than RicRod, so he can be here long term. Will cost much lesser than RR, but he's coming from the one-horse race that is SPL.
Maybe sign them both and sell Gibbs? #FM2017
