looking forward to make a few Brazilians cry, once again

Tonight's the night and these boys face Brazil in the match for Gold in the famous Maracana Stadium on the big stage.



No one expected the DFB youngsters to come that far as some of their top players had to stay home due to fact that the DFB and the clubs had an agreement to only nominate a maximum of two players per club and no players who played in the Euros, no players who just transferred to a new club and no players from a club that had to go into EL or CL play-offs.

Or as Timo Horn put it: "We already have one medal safe, that's insane. You must know that we went into the tournament without any preparation. We didn't play a single match together, had only five training sessions and then went into the tournament.  To get into the final match that way is a sensation and how cool our boys are playing - particularly if you remember that many of the other teams had three or four months of preparation beforehand."

The boys already got a better result than the 1988 team which won Bronze, so no matter whether they get slaughtered by Brazil or fail by a tiny margin, they exceeded expectations by far.

Germany were one of the favorites even though they're missing a ton of players and our team is managed by a guy who gets his tactics from FIFA. Facing Germany in a final with this squad (who looked really nervous at the beginning of the competition) is not something I would've wanted.
