We should do a GL sweepstakes bet on what the first pokemon go related death will look like, if there hasn't been one already.


Disclaimer: Deaths like some pleb killing another pleb over a dispute don't count. I want some next level retardedness where somebody gets K.O'd whilst using the app.

In all seriousness what's to prevent them asking for the phones at glock point instead; this is especially bound to happen in 3rd and 2nd world countries.

Read this thread and then installed the app. (I tend to use GL as a trend filter).

Went out around midnight for a stroll. Freaked out a couple of neighbors - bearded, wheatish skinned man prowling around and hanging around street corners in the dead of the night in a conservative, residential Swabian neighborhood lol.

Then a wild Pokemon dude jumped at me. Pretty sure he was a Hobo before he flashed out his mobile and asked if I was hunting Pokemon. Freaked the shit out of me. Made up some excuse about trying to calibrate my phone sensors and jogged home on the double. Was kinda sure I might end up as the first dead person in SW Germany playing the damn thing.

Can't decide how long I will keep the app.

I am too lazy and wary random social interactions.

Any Indians playing the game ? We have poor internet connection around here and gps is always very unstable.
Like to know if anyones doing it, how they are doing it.

I am a huge Pokemon fan btw. Can recognize every pokemon except the ones in the latest versions.
Ninetales is an all time fav of mine.

BTW have anyone played INGRESS ? Niantic's previous game. It was fun too.

I walked 5 miles yesterday while hunting for the damned things, its fun and all but the kick for me is all that social interaction. Seriously i've seen more poeple outside in the last 3 days than i do in a year around here...*bleep* suburbs. Anyway the game will die out in a few weeks so i'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Yeah, unless they add fights and battles it will die. They do have 7 generations of more Pokémon to keep it fresh though.

What exactly do 'gyms' do?

Teams fight over the control of gyms, you go here, kick ass, get experience, and claim the gym for your team. If you go to a friendly gym you can practice and earn experience as well.

Suddenly a shit ton of kids and their parents are playing this, i now feel out of place playing this in public lol.
