But if you have your whole team consisting of toys that a sugar daddy buys, it is the easy way. The way Barcelona did it, is a special way - a way of doing something that this certain plastic club is not capable of. This will be remembered and relevant for centuries.
Have some perspective. The world doesn't start and end with Madrid and Barcelona. "Minimal financial effort"? are you serious?? This is a team that together with Real Madrid monopolize the earnings in Spain. Just did a quick search and 3 of the 10 most expensive transfers ever are Barca's (Suarez, Neymar, Ibra). Almost every year they shell out big money. Certainly bigger than most teams in the champions league spend.
What is this "special way" that Barca did? They had a great generation of players in their academy for sure, but then you look at the team and they ALWAYS buy a ton. Bravo-Alves-Mathieu-Mascherano-Rakitic-Suarez-Neymar seems like a pretty expensive and big chunk of their 11 that came from outside (and thats not couting Alba and Pique who they also had to buy).
Look back and you see Ronaldinho-Henry-Eto'o-Yaya-Zambrotta-Keita-Marquez-etc.
Same as every other big club on the planet except you had Messi.

Marcus Aeurius is on some strong drug. In what universe is Barcelona minimal spenders? They have always been huge spenders.. Just look at 129 mill Neymar,85 mill Suarez ,66 mill Ibra , 40 mill turan ,40 mill villa,... Is he really talking about Barcelona here?
Re: Has any team ever gotten such an easy road to the CL final?
Our starting 11 in the CL final last year costed about as much as Neymar, but Barca does it the "special way".

Valdes- Alves Pique Mascherano Abidal - Xavi Busquets Iniesta - Pedro Villa Messi
Only four players out of this 2011 CL final line-up were not produced by the club.
You might say it was a coincidence, once in a lifetime situation. But you can't deny it was special. They've arose and become a bully of football teams without a sugar daddy or a major sponsor. As i said, occasional big spendings happened in that period, impossible to have prevented that.
This will be remembered and looked up to - this is truly relevant. People don't look up to soldiers threatening players in dressing rooms. When you think of Madrid, you think of sugar daddies luring players for crazy amounts, that is all you think of. All and nothing else.

Not to mention the bench... Arda Turan was bought for 34 mil. Vermaelen for 19 mil. Ter Stegen for 12 mil. You add that to Neymar for whatever that was (between 100 and 120 mil ), Suarez for 82 mil, Mathieu for 20 mil and Rakitic for 18 mil.
At least with Madrid, we sold Ozil, Di Maria and Higuain for a bucket load of money. Almost 200 million. Not to mention Callejon, Albiol, Morata potentially, etc. In fairness to Flo, our net transfers have been pretty much even over the past 4 years even though we spent big.

That's their history bruh .
They also had only 2 academy players starting when they won their first CL back in 1992 ( ) , the rest were probably bought with discount coupons.
Their second CL ? the likes of Ronaldinho , Eto'o , Guily , Van Bommel , Van bronwhatever, Deco , Marquez, Belletti etc... didn't obviously cost any money .

These are the prices in todays market.sportsczy wrote:Not to mention the bench...
Madrid infalted them because of their crazy transfers. They used to spend such amounts of money before it was even thinkable.

So was our 1998-2002 CL winners. Madrid's homegrown players on that team: Casillas, Sanchis, Raul, Morientes, Cambiasso, Chendo and Guti.

We did? The Neymar transfer that started all the madness happened before the Bale transfer... we moved on to Bale after Neymar. So really, this madness started with Barca in this case although Barca tried to fraudulently hide it.

And Hierro is as much of a Madrid product as Pique is Barca's

Why is there so much urge to defend everytime everything? Are you trying overcompensate you failure in last decade with aggression?

Yeah but they sold him to United and bought him years later.

You and Futbol dating the same Psychology major? If someone makes a not so nice and/or patently false statement about Madrid, the fans would correct you or attack you, both even. This is so with ALL clubs. Some of you Barca peeps went to the "aid" of Pep in the Pep is a failure thread when he really has nothing to do with Barcelona anymore. But you guys see him as one of your own so that settles that.
Nothing to do with aggression or making up for failure, just the nature of fandom and forums.

Agreed.
But what about when Madrid fans make "a not so nice and/or patently false statement". Or are you allowed to do so because you have " rich history ".

I guess it would be the same reason why the poster said we didn't deserve to be in the final: because one can.

Chygrynsky is my favourite, homegrown Barca player. Also, the purchase and sale of Zlatan was an economically brilliant move that only a special club would be capable of

Oh that's so stupid thing to say, you totally deserve to be in final no doubt about that. I would have liked to say may the better team win at Milan but u see I dnt want to jinx Atletico.
Just kidding. Choosing from two Madrid teams is hard business for us it's like choosing which ball to get kicked in.

Barca is a nouveau rich club so it's normal that the fans don't understand Adit. Let it go. You can't make a tramp into a lady no matter how hard you try. You need a generation to pass. The kids of current Barca fans should be ok though.
I did get carried away and i may be wrong, but this statement is the most misguided since Hitler said that the Jews invented the conscience.

He did spend his last youth year with Man U's youth team and then was promoted the year after by Man U to the senior team.
To me, it's the last youth team before getting promoted to playing in the senior squad for the first time that counts. Otherwise, most players in the south of France would be considered youth products of Septèmes-les-Vallons

Argue all you want, truth is they did get very favorable road to the final. Watching the game vs City I felt that neither of them deserved to be there. City of having no intensity and Real for not being able to hurt them more.

sportsczy wrote:Juve barely beat us last year and we sucked far worse than this year... and they had Tevez. We beat Barca in the second clasico at Camp Nou. We've won 16 out of the last 17 games... and the only loss was to Wolfsburg away 4 days after the clasico win at Camp Nou (emotional let down that always happen after clasicos).
So really.... please tell us how this team is sub par right now. We're playing tactical football because we don't have the pieces to play expansively due to injury and/or player profiles. But luck allowing, we'll have BBC in the CL Final with Casemiro as the DM so Modric and Kroos can push up behind the strikers. For the first time since forever, we'll have our full lineup. Despite winning, we've had either Bale, Ronaldo or Benzema injured since as long as I can remember. We don't have a replacement for any of them so we have to play differently when one is absent.
I can go on and on.
Bottom line is that, for once, we haven't been so arrogant to just play the same regardless of circumstances. We've been pragmatic when needed. As a result, we're getting results in games where we NEVER got results before.
No, just no. Ancelotti is 10 times the manager Zidane currently is. I watched a few games of Madrid this year and most were won due to individual brilliance, but there's no way in hell you are better this season. Dont be deluded just because you haven't faced any top teams on form yet.
