Carlo's Milan is one of the most underrated teams ever. They could have won every UCL in that period tbh.

These periods are so massive
Both us and Bayern changed dramatically over those years, you'd have to pick two specific seasons for it to be a proper ccomparison.

i'd go with bayern. i preferred watching ancelotti's milan though. but when you beat bayern, you know you beat them e.g. our 4 nil win against them 2 years ago in ucl was mainly us beating them, and not them having brain farts. carlo's milan was susceptible to brain farts every now and again. i'm sorry, i can't throw deportivo's 4 nil win from a 4-1 deficit or liverpool's istanbul miracle under the bus. especially as by then, despite depor doing well in la liga that year, super depor was over, that was just remnant of a once fantastic team. and that pool side had no business beating milan neither....i can't excuse those, like they didn't happen.

"On paper", Milan is better:
I only see Robben and Neuer making it into that team from peak Bayern (12/13) and possibly Martinez instead of Gattuso. Maybe Lahm instead of Cafu who was well beyond his 30s. But that's "on paper". In reality this team lost a CL final to a team lining up with Djimi Traore, John Arne Riise, Harry Kewell and Steve Finnan.
Sheva Crespo
Kaka
Seedorf Gattuso
Pirlo
Maldini Nesta Stam Cafu
Dida

Basically what tito said, also, Carlo's league form throughout those years was really poor as opposed to Bayern. Sure, one could argue that the Bundesliga is made up of 17 Rayo Vanillacanoes, but it still wasn't an excuse to lose against Messina
