They're 16th after 12 rounds.
13 points off top-4 and 9 points off top-7.

Depends whether and how soon they sack Mourinho and who takes over.

You vastly overestimate the ability of the likes of Leicester and West Ham to stay where they are

Leicester and West Ham don't need to stay there for Chelsea to not reach it. Liverpool or Tottenham will be happy to fill in.

As for "seen it too many times", is there a precedent for someone reaching top 4 after starting with 11 points out of 12 game?

Not that i mean scrubs falling off and allowing a team who started badly and recovering.
Not sure about the points itself but that has happened many times, i simply don't believe this will happen for much longer and i don't believe in the garbage this league has to offer below Man Yoo, Arsenal and City.

Yeah I get the general point but this is worse. This is not 4-5 games bad start (like Utd or Arsenal last season), it's almost a third of the season, and they are actually heading towards the relegation zone.
It's irrational to think they'll go from less than a point per game to 2.5 points per game just like that.
Reminds me of the Dortmund discussions last season.

Yeah, I don't think top-4 is completely out of reach, but it would require such a shift in form that I tend to agree with Hans that such shifts don't usually happen. On the other hand, their league games before Christmas are Norwich, Bournemouth and Sunderland at home and Tottenham and Leicester away. They could go on a good run.

Every week you come in thinking that Chelsea have finally figured it out, but they've been exposed every week for too long now that I don't think they can put a consistent run together.
See them getting 7th at best.

I also should be clear, i don't think Mourinho will last much longer.
Wouldn't even be surprised if he's sacked during international break, a lot of clubs make changes during that time.

Honestly the gap is not that big that they absolutely have to miss out on Top 4. There's a 9 point gap with Spurs andn a 6 point gap with Liverpool (granted, with a game in hand, but at least Spurs don't have an easy fixture this week). So all they really need to make 4th is win 3 more games than those teams. With 26 games remaining is that really so inconceivable? I don't think so.

Season is only 12 matches so far. We've been in similar position (being 12-16 points behind top 4) quite many times and ended up 4th in every season like this.

Probably 8th or 9th. This sort of form just doesn't go away even with a new manager.

Heard their performance was decent.
And tbh stoke away is always difficult for any team. I am sure Chelsea dropped points there previously too. This time it obviously looks awful since their form is bad.
