Just to make it clear for people who don't understand... if the police had cause and evidence to believe that Karim was involved, he'd be under arrest, would have had to go in front of a judge and post bail.  In no case would he be able to leave the country as he has for Spain under any scenario.

What's happened is that he went through an interrogation and the judge has felt that he should still be under investigation... based on reports from proper media, there just wasn't enough time in 24 hours, the time allotted for the interrogation by law, to vet out all the information and/or statements made by Benz.  So the judge is giving the police more time to check everything out.  By taking this action, the police is also giving itself the option to call Benz back for more questioning.  If they hadn't taken this action, Benz would have been cleared of everything and they would have had no recourse to return to the items they had discussed under the interrogation unless new evidence presented itself.

To me, it's about the police being thorough in a very serious matter.  Karim, although Valbuena was his friend, shouldn't have tried to help... he should have just let Valbuena deal with it.

The interesting part in all this is that Benz is suffering the consequence of Valbuena taking exactly the path that Benz recommended him according to reports... namely Benz telling Valbuena to not give in.

Again, i think the police are using this to try and get Benz to rat out criminal elements he may have some interaction with.  Common police strategy tbh.  I've been victim of something like this too in my past... i was put in a lineup and some idiot said i was at the scene of a crime when i was a kid.  Turned out the only reason she picked me out was that i looked middle eastern.  I also knew some guys known to be in the local mafia... but wtf, i'd known them since i was a child. Just stuff you can't avoid in France unfortunately if you've got some darker blood.

Back when i was a kid, all the kids played footy on the street every day... south of France. Invariably, one of the kids was going to have parents in something shady. It was completely unavoidable. I'm about as far from gangsta as you could imagine... total wimp

If the criminals get fuxcked they might come after Benzema for helping his friend out. My brother was in a similar situation. Some friend knew got kidnapped and robbed at gun point, he told him who did it then that guy went and snitched those guys out. They take it as my brother was the one that snitched on them and have threatened him

the guy probably grew up in a poor neighborhood and those were the friends he had as a kid, into his youth years and ultimately into his career. considering the fact he also has lots of siblings who don't play football, its not abnormal to have such friendships, doesn't make him a bad person....in some neighborhoods 1 in 3 people go to prison. even if you wanted to block them out, as i said, he has brothers who don't have his kind of success, difficult to manage their relationships as well....its the reality of life.

He was trying to calm the blackmailers down so they wouldn't jumped the gun... trying to buy time for Valbuena to decide what he wanted to do according to reports.

The fault here is on Valbuena for creating a sex tape first of all since he's married. Then these crooks got hold of the tape somehow and Valbuena was worried about his family and public opinion. Benz was just trying to help him out since he had connections... i mean it's not like Benz was going to profit from this in any way.

It's all about the police having time to verify everything.

hes algerian in france, so chances are he didnt grow up in a very good neighborhood. plenty of us that have risen in western countries but we have plenty of trash as well

benzema is a good guy. he just has bad influences around him. needs to start putting better people into his life

All kidding aside, I'm almost certain he's innocent of all those things. He has enough money to buy out Valbuena 100 times. He also has enough money not to go Walter White.

I just hope they sort out everything quickly. We have too many injuries as it is.

Imo Benzema doesn't have the mentality to be the main drug trafficker. He is a good sidekick but he would struggle to move the same amount as Pablo Escobar if he was given a bigger role.

I know at Lyon he was the main drug trafficker and his numbers were big but I don't think he can do it on a wider scale.
