It's not just about failing to score, the guy can't even hit the target anyone.

I don't get how an all time great like Ronaldo can be so shit at freekicks. I've literally watched kids from Lyon's youth team take better ones on a consistent basis

I think he scored them relatively frequently, back when he was doing knuckle ball shots. I don’t know why he became so shit at it after he stopped doing those. We’ve had this discussion on here several times in the past, and a lot of people on here, especially Man United fans, seemed to insist that he was never any good at it, to begin with.

He was better at it when he was younger though. Remember that 'knuckleball' technique he had at United where he would generate an unpredictable wobble to the ball by combining sheer power and hitting it with the instep of his foot while slightly twisting his ankle in the process?

Well, I remember I read something about how doctors at the time (when he was still at United) advising him to completely abandon that technique otherwise he would risk getting a serious injury.

He completely changed it at Madrid and he was able to get a freekick goal every now and then with us.

He was never a freekick specialist btw, but now with Juventus he seems to have hit a new low.

I don't think he ever went that long without scoring one with us.

yea he was pretty good at them during his younger days but nearly every coach told him to stop using that technique. But obviously it didn't stop him trying to score other ways lol

I literally saw Ronaldo score knuckle freekicks in mehdrid too.. He didn't abandon anything and never scored them frequently to begin with.

He's simply been shit at them and now he's hit rock bottom. End of.

He is, at best, our third best free kick taker. Him taking any amount of free kicks has been the only downside to having him in the team. Luckily he doesnt take as many he did last season, now Dybala takes them unless it's from the left, then him and Pjanic split them.

Last season he wasnt only taking more, but he seemed worse at it. This season at least he mostly gets close to scoring.

Ronaldo is shooting some great freekicks since adapting the regular technique. Probably should have done it all along.

He can cause all kinds of trouble by placing them like this, considering his shooting power even his placed shots are strong.
