Re: World Cup 2018 Qualifying Groups
Why do South America continue to have a single-group qualification??? Each South American teams have to play 18 games while European teams have to play 10.
They can have two groups easily. The winners & runner-ups of these groups (total four teams) progresses to WC while the third-placed teams face each other to decide who faces the CONCACAF play-off.

That would be much tougher. Plus playing every country in the confederation seems like the best way to prove your ready for the world cup
I'm glad they are now determining fixtures via draw now. Before it was always predetermined. Example Peru always open at home vs Paraguay then travel to Chile

Re: World Cup 2018 Qualifying Groups
Some interesting groups
England got an easy one lol. As always. Funny seeing Scotland though.
Group A is group of death. Sweden always makes it difficult but still expecting France and Netherlands to go through
Group B Portugal and Switzerland
Group C Germany and Czech Rep
Group D can go either way. Not sure how Serbia are these days. Wales should go through but ROI are also a tricky side. Wales and Serbia in the end imo
Group E 3 ways as well. Romania are somehow in top 10 ranking so they must be doing somethign right. Denmark and Poland are good sides too. Can't say who will miss out
Group F will be England and Scotland
Group G Spain and Italy
Group H Belgium and Bosnia
Group I Croatia and Turkey
Might actually see England, Scotland, ROI and Wales all in WC18 lol

Re: World Cup 2018 Qualifying Groups
Tbh Wales has a one way ticket to Russia after this draw.
For South America, Peru has a very tough double date with Colombia and Chile. For us to have a chance at the WC, winning all home matches is an absolute must. A draw counts just as much of a loss at home.
Wouldve loved to face Uruguay and Brazil first since Suarez and Neymar are banned for 4 and 2 games respectively. Brazil and Uruguay are different teams without them

Mind you, the second placed teams will have to play play-offs and only half of them go through.RealGunner wrote:Might actually see England, Scotland, ROI and Wales all in WC18 lol

Re: World Cup 2018 Qualifying Groups
Great that England and Scotland will be facing each other in two competitive games, the first time since 2000. Not a hugely exciting draw otherwise.
