Some promising praise for the lad.

Hard to get excited over the lad in the light of our recent young center-back experiences. Wilson, Kelly, Wisdom, Coates, Ilori... Here's hoping he's the one to turn the page, but I'm not holding my breath.

Has a Kelly written all over him tbh.

Honestly, I would love nothing more to give both Ilori and Gomez a chance right away. Sakho is the undisputed starter. Everyone else should be given a fair chance.

I think Rodgers is considering both Wisdom & Gomez primarily as RB. I don't see any other reason why he should stack-up THREE young CB while retaining Toure. At this point, all I care is Wisdom, Ilori & Gomez combined gets more time than Lovren & Toure combined.

we keep on loaning defenders and they come back just to be sold back ! But I think with already older players around the first team, he should go on loan, to a EPL club will be great !

So apparently he wont be loaned-out. If he is considered as the back-up LB (and Enrique is indeed shipped-out), that's a good choice. He will get enough games at that slot.

The Full-back situation will likely be something a long the lines of this:
RB: Clyne, Wisdom, Gomez,
LB: Moreno, Gomez, Enrique (if he's still here)

From the pre-season performances, it seems like Gomez is an incredibly versatile young defender, which may be somewhat detrimental to his individual development but beneficial to LFC's current situation. Unless a dedicated LB is bought in the remainder of the window, I fully expect him to be second-choice at LB for the start of the season. Given Wisdom's experience (and premier league loan last season) I would expect him to be second-choice at RB regardless.

This is all assuming Flanagan fails to make a miraculous recovery. There have been rumors that his injuries were far more serious than originally thought, to the extent that they may be career-threatening or at least impact his ability to perform at the level needed for LFC's first-team.

As for the Center-Backs, I would certainly hope that the pre-season performances would put to bed any lingering inclinations that Lovren is in the same class as Sakho. Since Skrtel is unlikely to be dropped anytime soon (and he's certainly looked like our second-best CB on tour), Sakho and Skrtel will most likely be the starting pairing for hte beginning of the season. However, I would love to see Ilori given a shot early in the cups/Europe and eventually the league, dependent on his cup performances.

Given that we have a plethora of options at CB, my guess would be that Toure was retained more for his locker-room presence and leadership than his contributions on-pitch. I would expect him to be used sparingly and in conjunction with our younger CBs (Ilori, Wisdom, Gomez, etc.)

The Full-back situation will likely be something a long the lines of this:

LB: Moreno, Gomez, Enrique (if he's still here)

I guess the only reason Enrique is still around and may stick around till December, is the uncertainty over Flanagan. Enrique have played very few games (525 mins) even last season and Wisdom and Joe would be the back-ups for R&LWB.

As for CB, I would like to see Ilori chosen as the 3rd-CB behind Skrtel and Sakho.

If Moreno hasn't improved his 2015 form quite a lot, I rate Enrique as our best left-back. I'm really not comfortable letting Enrique leave if our other LB back-ups are Flanagan and Gomez.
