Saved Gravy and went on a chain quest to help another settlement, i go there, meet a woman, says she wants me to take care of some raiders.

I go to their hiding place, the power plant, and i find 5 turrets, 90 raiders and a couple of ghouls.

Noped the f*ck outta there, went did some other questing, lvled a bit, came back with the power armor suit.

R.I.P.

Go back to hand in quest, she gives me some bottlecaps and a pat on the back.

Gunned her down right then and there.

Make sure you when you see a NPC called abraham (small farm near a fire factory), DO his quest 100%. Really difficult but worth the prize at the end.

Abraham and his family were all attacked and killed while I was busy clubbing with my companion in Goodneighbour

Yeah, I put all of my work into sanctuary before I unlocked Castle. Castle is way superior, when it comes to building a defensive fort. If you "rebuild" the broken walls, there are only two entrances into the castle. Both pathways leading up to those two entrances are quite narrow, so it's relatively easy to set up turrets to focus on those two spots. Also, it's a castle

As your level grows higher, creatures and people attacking your settlements will be a lot stronger compared to your turrets and settlers (who don't evolve by themselves), so defending a settlement is going to be a struggle unless you keep your level relatively low. Mine's 90+ and settlement attacks are a HUGE pain in the ass, since enemy mobs are bullet sponges and near practically immune to turret fire. Unless I'm mistaken, you'll need to defend Castle anyway, after you've made your final choice of which faction to stay with... unless, you choose the Institute of course.

I've only had to defend 3-4 settlements and I'm level 50

Granted, I've let a few go attacked but they were settlements with 2-3 people in them. Sanctuary is my most populated (14 suits of power armor there too) and I've never had it attacked.

I still haven't upgraded Sanctuary much, just accepted the quest to retake Castle. Should i focus on Castle henceforth?

Castle isn't that important tbh, plus it doesn't need much work. I think I put up mostly defenses around the castle and food that was it. tbh it all comes down to preference. I focused on Sanctuary and Starlight Drive In since they were my first couple of settlements, there are some really cool settlement locations but they were quite small. I liked the larger ones.

Starlight drive is a midtable settlement, would much rather use resources on top tier settlements

it's a big open lot where you can pretty much build however you want u pos, it's an A+ settlement, think it might be third largest in terms of area

that's actually an important settlement, whenever i needed crops for new settlements I always went there and harvested all of theirs
