Re: Rafael Benitez
Though it's too early to say that he will the new man to lead RM, but I think it would be fantastic if Napoli reach the 2nd place at the Serie A. In this case the credentials of Benitez would be questionable. Though the good point is that he maintain he's squad position (I mean sitting on the third place at Serie A).

Re: Rafael Benitez
Of course it's bullshit.
Rafa is still Napoli's coach for another week. And they have a huge game coming next weekend against Lazio which will determine if they get CL or not.
Rafa may have had contact with Madrid and may have agreed to join and everything may be done but I promise you he's still very much focused on getting the job done for Napoli first.
And can I ask the link to these reports that you are reading.

Re: Rafael Benitez
Actually l'Equipe is reporting the Rafa and Napoli will have an announcement on Thursday.. it could be that he's leaving but only after the game.
Also, Florentino Perez of Madrid said in his press conference that a new Madrid coach will be named with the end of the week.
It seems to fit.

Somehow, I doubt that his future plans would be leaked to the media before he's even been signed to the club

Rafa had 2 flops at Liverpool. Keane; which wasn't even his signing and Aquilani who never settled in England / was injured the whole bloody time. Seemed like a decent footballer when he played though. Still has to go down as a flop I guess. Considering half his signings were youth / revamping the academy and more than half of the rest were success / low risk buys I'm struggling to understand how he was poor in the market for us. It's a myth generated from the media that he was poor because of his spits with Ferguson.
You've got to be kidding. He signed lots of players that can be considered a flop:
2004/05:
Cisse 20 milion
Luis Garcia 9 milions
Morientes 9 milion
05/06
Sissoko 12 milion
Crouch 10
06/07
Pennant 9
Bellamy 9
07/08:
Babel 18
08/09:
Kean 24
Dossena 9
Riera 9
09/10:
Aquilani 20
More important is the fact that even with money and being able to keep his top players (Gerrad, Reina, Alonso, Torres), he just couldn't improve his team.

Re: Rafael Benitez
He Wouldn't have control over transfers here anyways
If he told Perez he wanted a back up striker Perez would give him Harry Kane who he bought for record amouny and when he eventually flops Benitez will be in a lose lose situation whereby if we won titles without him he would get sacked for not playing him and if he did play him he would suffer the same fate as Carlo
Him making Bale his go to guy does nothing to raise my confidence about his success. I am already predicting doom and gloom and Perez hasn't even started his silly season

Re: Rafael Benitez
Benitez will be a Madrid legend before he even starts coaching if he brings Monchi with him. He also wants to make Guti head of the youth department

It's not like the current guy, Ramon Martinez, is doing a good job.
By the way, what's wrong with Guti?

Guti lmao
What does he know about youth. I would make Toril the head of youth development and the Castilla coach too

Guti might spend more time chasing trannys than actually doing his job. Also, certainly sounds like a big, huge lie.

Re: Rafael Benitez
well hope this happens tbh , people need to learn that scoring goals doesn't make you a CF, and cr has had a lot of trouble being a cf when he was younger and faster, the movement and spacing is completely different, when you have create the space yourself!!, than having a cf do it for you, so basically cr is creating is the space for bale to flourish

Re: Rafael Benitez
@valk i wouldn't trust sites like "managingmadrid" i remember them starting a rumor a couple days ago, then later saying people should not believe the rumor....a rumor they started, it was quite unprofessional...even marca wouldn't stoop to that (actually they probably will, those spanish sites can be foolish at times). i bet you got the info of guti as assistant manager from them.to be honest i'm not so thrilled about ex-players as assistant managers or managers when they've had limited experience, i don't get why fans get excited about them
imo, as a coach, manager, president, or whatever, you're supposed to surround yourself with people better or as sound as you, at least to give you another alternative on things and constructively critique your work (in private ofcourse), not rookies and coaches of youth teams and juvenil B teams

Re: Rafael Benitez
It's a shrewd move to have Morientes as his assistant. Worked with him before and Morientes respects him a lot as well as him being a legend at the club.

Re: Rafael Benitez
Hate this. The man underperforms with Napoli and is rewarded with arguably the biggest job in football?
I feel like he's being brought in to accommodate Bale. Bale's pretty much lost his entire support structure with no more Carlo and more importantly Clemente.
Rafa taking over at Madrid is a bit like Redknapp being given the England job at this point. It should've happened at some point, but now its too late. Damaged goods, feels like second rate.
