The ref had a good game, and even that penalty box ref for the first time in football history made a good decision with Neymar's handball goal.

I aged by 10 years whilst watching the match. My stomach churned when the madridista scored, and I thought it wasn't meant to be. Sad

Congratulations to the entire blaugrana community here, and my commiserations to Juve. Much respect to Buffon and Pirlo. Seeing the latter in tears subdued my celebratory mood a bit.

I felt genuinely sad for both Pirlo and Buffon .

Best moment of the final for me was the Pirlo-Xavi bromance and then the Barca players applauding Juventus on their way for their medals. Beautiful scenes .

Yeah. I also said it in the La Liga thread a while ago. There are 2 things I don't enjoy at all. Playing the last game of the season against a team fighting relegation to put the final nail in their coffin. And playing finals against likeable legends like Pirlo and Buffon.

Neither deliberate, Juve handball no penalty, Barca handball disallowed goal. This is how UEFA roll nowadays.

Some things:

Why didn't allegri celebrate morata 's goal?

Jibers said Mascherano is a good CB... truth is he is poor and was poor yesterday. Destroyed by Morata and made a couple of big mistakes bringing the ball forward.

On the ref: Had a bad game because of his inconsistent criteria. If neymar s goal is a handball, lichsteiner s hand is a penalty. If Suarez first tackle gots a yellow, Pogba and especially Vidal should have been sent off (and Vidal very early on). Pogba 's alleged penalty is a grey thing, both players are holding each other.

Juve again impressed me with their approach to the game. They tried to attack, they pressed, played from the back... just amazing, we Barcelona fans are not used to facing proper football. Morata was surely their Mom with Chiellini.

Finally want to mention that Barca fans chanted pirlo 's name at the end of the game, it was nice.

It was certainly a fantastic game, a refreshing one as well. I might be biased since I am a Juve fan but it is nice to see another team besides Real Madrid and Bayern in the finals.

The Neymar goal was scored by his hand/arm. It went from head to hand/arm into goal, of course it was an infringement. I can't understand why there is any controversy. You can't score a goal with your arm however unintentional it is. LOL

I thought likewise but, after a careful analysis of the laws of the game, it never states that any hand contact is illegal. It only states that deliberately handling the ball is illegal. Since it was ball to hand (instead of hand to ball) it was legal.

The rule book says handball has to be intentional. On German TV they repeated this a thousand times and even gave an example of such a "handball goal" which was allowed in Bundesliga (Höwedes vs. Neuer). Otherwise, by the same logic, the Bonucci handball in the first half was also a penalty. Because "you can't touch the ball with your hand however unintentional it is". Which is obviously not true.

Don't understand how anyone can see that and not think its a penalty. I won't be too harsh on the ref since he couldn't have seen too much of it, but the official behind the goal simply has to give a penalty there.

Having said that, I'd be wary of attaching too much significance to it. Even if Juve got the penalty and scored, I still think Barca would've won. They were simply the better team and deserved the victory.

Finally, on the Neymar handball, according to the letter of the law it shouldn't have been disallowed and he can count himself very unlucky. If you disagree (as I initially did) read either BC's article or the official interpretation of Law 12 (fouls and misconduct) that makes it very clear.

I blame La Liga for not only making us think that every handball is a foul, but also that every handball is a yellow

The only type of handball that is a foul is a deliberate handball, and a deliberate handball is a yellow card every day of the week.
