Ryan is good enough for a club of Valencia's size, but I can't see him starting over a fully fit Alves, so I don't understand Ryan's decision here. It's great short term but I can see him being forever benched in the long term.

That's what I fear, too. I really hope that Matt Ryan doesn't ruin himself his career that way - particularly as Mitch Langerak has a good chance to start at Stuttgart when he is back from his injury (I think Langerak is better than Tyton, so he should become the starter at the VfB).

Valencia is leagues ahead of Watford (excuse the pun). What Ryan needed to do was get to a big club that doesn't have an established No. 1. In saying that, he's going to have a bit of time to prove himself at Valencia whilst Alves is injured. Langerak was never given that sort of chance. Alves is a top class GK, but he is 30 y.o. and Ryan might have an opportunity to usurp him if Valencia decide Alves is past it.

Obviously Valencia are much better than Watford, but Watford are better than Brugge. What I mean is he should have signed for a small club within one of the top three leagues, then prove himself there for a season before making the jump.
