Le Francis Coquelin fil de l'appréciation
Hard to believe this fine specimen of defensive midfield was once compare to Emmanuel Frimpong. Even harder to believe some had Frimmers ahead of him (you know who you are) But, this season, it finally looks like he's hitting the strides a lot of coaches and managers alike had predicted he would. Once again, like so many seemingly anonymous players this season, Coquelin has sprung up out of nowhere with MOTM performances almost every game he's played. He's robust, quick, not scared of putting in a tackle and can even pick out a pass. Also, unlike Arteta and Flamini, he knows his role and doesn't wander too far forward and actually protects the back four and breaks up play
I think this picture sums him up

I predict Arsenal fans being fed up with him and wanting him sold after 1 or 2 years.

Re: Le Francis Coquelin fil de l'appréciation
His career has already been a roller coaster. The reason some people had higher hopes for Frimpong is that His Denchness broke into the first team spotlight a little sooner, earning a lot of respect (including from Riquelme, who singled him out for praise). But soon le Coq looked like the more cultured, intelligent, and composed player. He had a superb game against Spurs that I'm sure all the Arsenal fans will remember.
But after a while it looked like he wasn't developing as planned. He didn't really distinguish himself in subsequent loan spells and demand that Arsenal re-incorporate him, did he? Nor were other big clubs clamoring for his signature.
That said, I'm VERY glad he's been playing so brilliantly the last few months. My hat's off to him. In a tricky situation he's been impeccable.
Whether Coq develops into a key DM or even just stays at the merely respectable level of being a good squad player, it goes to show how quickly we sometimes write off players before they've actually come anywhere near maturity.
There are other young players who've been written off and forgotten a little bit after their initial hype, but who eventually re-emerge as pretty top-notch footballers. Coutinho comes to mind.

I don't know how he developed into the next Petit from being the next Frank Leboeuf.
I still don't think he is the answer but he has been better than anyone bar Arteta since Gilberto left, for us.
Hopefully he can maintain this form.

It would probably be considered spam to bump a thread whenever he has a great game, which is pretty much every week.

Overrated bum .
Arsenal fans were telling us he should start for France ffs. it's annoying when fans of teams start promoting their players and shoving them down our throats as legit NT caliber players.
