Douglas Costa
I sure hope we land him cause that boy is good.
Excellent dribbling skills, Excellent!, sensible vision on the pitch producing beautiful crosses and passes and to top all that, he has a killer shot. Sign him Jose. I invite you to take a closer look.

Re: Douglas Costa
Notice his silky touch on the ball, elegant ball handling skills.
That is the type of versatile player we want. Someone who is as effective at defending as he is lethal in attack. This is why Willian is quickly growing on me.
Douglas, Hazard, Willian, Matic.
I am not very fond of Fabregas because he is a bit slow and its all about speed but he's fine at the moment.
But we gotta sell Oscar (for some good sum) and Ramires and buy Varane and a technical Striker. Enough with poachers a la drogba, remy and costa. I dont care if we break the bank to sign Messi. It might not happen, but i dont give a damn if we pay his clause. That is Abra's problem not mine.

Re: Douglas Costa
No thanks good player but his on the same mediocre level as Oscar, Willian and Cuadrado. We need someone WC to share the attacking workload with Hazard

In what world is Willian lethal in attack?

He's not mediocre. He would be a superb addition.
I disagree, Willian is a great player he links perfectly with Hazard.
Oscar is garbage. Cuadrado, i dont know. I ll give him the benefit of the doubt but he doesnt have the ball handling skills that I seek in a player. Has the speed and power, but not the smooth dribbling skill set.

I loved him in the last few games.
He will only improve from now on unless Jose chooses Cuadrado over him.

Doug’s in for £18m
Welp. If true, it's not too bad, but we can do better.DOUGLAS COSTA is set to start Chelsea’s rebuilding spree following their Champions League flop.
The Brazilian midfielder has agreed in principle to sign for the Premier League leaders at the end of the season in an £18million deal.

If its true its very good news.
What do you mean we can do better? You do realize that he is better than all our midfielders.

???
He is better than Oscar, Ramires, Cesc in everything (dribbling, passing, speed, scoring, defending)
Who are your candidates whom you think are better than him? Bare in mind you need multi-purpose versatile players.
Chelsea's entire midfield structure is out-dated. Mourinho is still living in 2010 when he won the CL with Inter.

Re: Douglas Costa
He isn't a world beater, so signing a player like Reus would obviously improve us more. But at the same time, I'd be ok with his signing more than most.
Our midfield isn't outdated, look at how good it was early on in the season, our midfield is just tired due to lack of depth.
Also, he is no way better than Cesc at passing

Re: Douglas Costa
Reus is fine; a cherry on the top but is not the answer to Chelsea's midfield problems and I don't see how he's better than Douglas.
That said, Reus is one player, what about the other candidates who are supposed to take over from Mikel, Cesc, Ramires assuming that Reus takes over from Oscar? I am not a fan of Reus and his injuries btw.
You tell me Verratti and I will high five you but Reus? Think Big, Kick.

Re: Douglas Costa
Whoever we buy Mou won't just give them enoug chances. He does not know how to rotate players.

Re: Douglas Costa
It's not that he doesn't know how rotate. Mourinho is after immediate success and glory. You might have two players, one who would give you a success ratio of 70% and another of 80%. Both are great and will give you the success that you seek; the end product. But Mourinho would go for the 80% option.
Add the fact that he had tasted success using a specific brand of football; so he would consequently repeat that brand of football / method which brought him success. He will modify and tweak and trim around the core of this method but wont change it. It's a pattern thing which is imprinted in him by now.
How do you change that?
It is not going to be easy. It's in fact one of the most difficult things to do. You first have to admit that you are wrong and identify the mistakes and adopt them. You gotta acknowledge
a problem in order for you to find a solution. Mou (or any one in his shoes) would not easily acknowledge the problem because not only those methods of operation brought him past tangible success but for other reasons which are irrelevant to the discussion now.
I have touched some more on that in one of the old threads in the general section about how mourinho can turn the current system he has from a near perfect system into the undisputed best. If you re interested, you can revisit the thread...
So this is why, Chelsea's problems will not be completely solved by buying new players. Buying new players however (the right ones) paves the way and lays the proper foundation for Chelsea's footballing system evolution.
The other thing that has to change is Mourinho.
The best way to change him would be for him to acknowledge his mistakes but we gotta be fair here. this is not easy. So the other alternative would be to FAIL! Fail whilst experimenting with more systems. Right now he s playing it safe (by the book) and this is allowing him to reap some tangible rewards manifested with okay results in the league. This means he's not failing which means the cycle will repeat.
This is important especially for you guys who are die hard fans. For me, it doesn't really matter; I am a plastic fan with no real emotional bonding to any Club. I am more intrigued by the process rather than the end product.

Re: Douglas Costa
So in the first clip, it is clear that Douglas is full of trickery, skill, technique, speed, and stamina (can run that extra mile). He has also a dangerous knuckle shot that can find its way into the net from mid-range distances. But is there more to Douglas's game than running, dribbling and shooting? Is he another Zombie player like Ramires?
Well, watch this second clip and be the judge of why I dubbed him the new enhanced Cesc.

Forgot to add that until recently he was wanted by both Arsenal and Barca, since he fits their attacking football style.
