2015 MLS Thread
Matchday 1:
LA Galaxy - Chicago Fire
DC United - Montreal Impact
Philadelphia Union - Colorado Rapids
Vancouver Whitecaps - Toronto FC
Houston Dynamo - Columbus Crew
FC Dallas - San Jose Earthquakes
Portland Timbers - Real Salt Lake
Orlando City - New York City
Sporting Kansas City - New York Red Bulls
Seattle Sounders - New England Revolution
My predictions in bold. Some tasty matches here with Seattle-NE being probably the best one quality-wise. Obviously Orlando-NYC will get the biggest media coverage though.
My 10 players to watch:
Kei Kamara - Columbus Crew

Kaka - Orlando City
David Villa - New York City
Sebastian Giovinco - Toronto FC
Innocent Emeghara () - San Jose
Mix Diskerud - New York City
Shaun Maloney - Chicago
Frank Lampard - New York City
Steven Gerrard - Los Angeles
5 Coaches to Watch:
Jason Kreis - New York City
Adrian Heath - Orlando
Owen Coyle - Houston
Oscar Parejo - FC Dallas
Gregg Berhalter - Columbus

Re: 2015 MLS Thread
Relatively easy win for LA. Chicago put up a fight in the 2nd half and played much better, but the quality just isn't there in the final 3rd and the mistakes at the back are silly.....reminds me of a certain Italian side that I also support
LA look just as good without Donovan though. Didn't miss a beat. Some really dangerous players in Zardes, Villarreal and Ishizaki, who all had great games. Keane's goal was simply class. Great strike off a smart flick from Husidic.

Re: 2015 MLS Thread
Wish I shared your optimism, McLewis. When I look at Chicago all I can see is a side incredibly light and weak through the center with no real depth to their tactics. It's a side that will rely on pace on the counter from wide areas for basically every match.
That 2-0 scoreline flattered Chicago... the losing side.

Re: 2015 MLS Thread
So the season has already started. So Gerrard will be joining mid-season, right?
RO, would you be following LA this season (well I don't know which team you actually follow/support)!!!

Re: 2015 MLS Thread
Thanks for the thread! No revs players or coaches on your list though... Smh
For me Juan Agudelo and Diego Fagundez will be two to watch for sure. Diego didn't really play last year but Lee can't be expected to repeat his goal production from midfield alone so I think he gets worked back into the line up. One of the most promising talents in MLS and I think this will be a break out season for him for sure.
But anyway..This weekend will be immense
First game was pretty good. LA pretty much steamrolled it though. Fire looked bad, But it's just the first game The Revs got pumped in the first game of last season by Houston, but still made the MLS cup final.
No league is less predictable than MLS, and teams can always turn it on at any point. I like what Chicsgo has done for the most part this offseason, I think they'll be a lot better than they looked.
Zardes is good. Galaxy let Keane down on multiple occasions. Was wide open so like at least 2 or 3 times and no one passed to him. He passed up on a sitter for no reason though to let it role across. No idea why he didn't just bury it

I really wanted to put Agudelo in my list and was close to it, but Emeghara edged him out because of my Serie A fanboyism and cult status he gained on here while playing there ....NE are going to be the team to beat in the East again obviously with probably only DC and NYRB up to the task of challenging them legitimately. Big fan of Fagundez and I really liked what I saw from Andrew Farrell as well, who could begin to get noticed by USA if he continues on like he did last season. Nats aren't exactly set in the full-back department.
As for Chicago, Red is indeed correct that I am rather glass-half-full on this side. Tried to look for positives from the loss last night and I saw a few, which is enough for me to say this team will probably do a respectable job when the pieces fall in place and the players start to actually sync. New players, new system away to the league champions...my expectations were not high on what we can do in a game like that. That said, LA absolutely battered us. I just think we showed a bit more spunk in this game than we did probably all of last season.

Have no faith in NYRB this season. Sacked a manager who was doing well and have yet to replace Henry.

Re: 2015 MLS Thread
He has done well in the pre season but his chemistry with Henry last season was one of the highest points. I don't know who is going to provide creativity.
Zizzo and Felipe have been brought for that I guess but no idea how they will do.
At least they bought new defenders in which is good i suppose.

Nope, but he's now a director with the Houston Dash, the brand new women's pro team in the city. They're about to start their 2nd season in WPS.

Re: 2015 MLS Thread
Well, neither one of Chicago or LA brought their A game, imo. Galaxy had plenty of youth players fielded yesterday and still managed to bring home the beacon. Not that I belittle LA youth but I just thought we didn't do so hot and still managed to win, which speaks volumes about how Chicago faired.
Gonzalez still proving what a creative CB he is in that second goal for LA. Not the first time he's done set ups like that.
Bottom line, I'm happy MLS has started and glad LA won their first game.

DC up over Montreal so far. Haven't been watching so not sure how that scoreline looks.
Philly-Colorado has been rather boring though. Neither side with enough quality to make this one interesting.

They have to be. Bradley, Jozy and Gio are a good group of DPs on paper.
The Caps are tough to beat at home though so It's not hard for me to see TFC drop this one.

Wow Toronto have Cheyrou?
That's no wildcard team. It's legit.
Their midfeild is probably the most creative Midfield in MLS.
