Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
What are you on about?
You can't compare the two at all.
We lost players because we couldn't afford to buy players and needed to sell because of our debts.
We're now debt free pretty much. We now lose players because we have no idea on how to spend the money. We sell "top" players because they want to win shit, which normally means we end up buying shit for inflated fees. One becomes good. Carries us for abit. Same old shit. And then we bitch about it. Because it's not his fault. Because Suarez or something something. I have no idea what's going on with you people but I mean ffs I can't anymore.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Alonso and Mascherano yes.
Torres not so much. But we muffed his replacements anyway. Brought in Carroll and Downing.
Also did you see the trend?
G+H debt riddled; can't replace:
Alonso left, failed to replace him. (Due to financial reasons) - Young Lucas Leiva has to replace him as Aquilani is injured all bloody season.
Year later. Mascherano left, failed to replace him. (Due to financial reasons) - Replaced with Christian f****** Poulsen.
-------------
FSG COME IN, FINANCIALLY STABLE; money to replace:
6 months later. Torres left, failed to replace him. (Due to stupidity) - Replaced with Andy Carroll
A year or two later. Carragher left, failed to replace him. (Due to stupidity) - Replaced with nobody
A year later. Agger left, failed to replace him. (Due to stupidity) - Replaced with Lovren
Same year. Suarez left, failed to replace him. (Due to stupidity) - Replaced with "potential" and "depth" and etc.
Next (current year) Gerrard's leaving. Sterling leaving. (Yeah he's not on the same wavelength as players previously mentioned but he was/is a key player for us.) - Replaced with?
Top players leave because they want to play with top players / compete.
We just buy players with ambition that just bring us down. Back a Klopp and/or a Rafa and you'll see different results in the market.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Also Suarez stated he came to play with Torres AND Gerrard.
We sold Torres pretty much from the start.
Torres still had a reputation as a winner / was world class when we sold him.
Players that want to win want to be around players with the same mindset. Sooner Liverpool fans get that, the better.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I dunno, Rodgers was good enough last season. I still keep hearing that he was carried by good players. Pretty much every coach is a fraud coach, I mean ffs they rely so much on their top players like Hazard, Sanchez, Messi, Ronaldo, Robbery, etc.
Also even if you believe that Sterling is leaving because he wants to win trophies what does that say about him? He had the opportunity to win trophies this year and went missing in most of our important games. Even playing striker for a large part of the season he scored 7 goals in 41 games in League and Europe. He doesn't want to be a player that is a key piece in a title or trophy winning team, he wants to be carried by players that are better than him so he has space to do whatever he wants, and doesn't have to deal with pressure. Why would you want our team to be built around or held ransom by a player with that kind of mentality?
All you have to do is look at the difference between someone like Coutinho and Sterling. When Coutinho isn't playing well, or the team isn't playing well, he works harder and tries more and works on the holes in his game and takes responsibility on himself. Sterling just puts his head down, parties and complains that the team isn't good enough. Frankly, **** players like Sterling I want more players like Coutinho and honestly if our starting line-up is that of having Milner playing in place of Sterling next season I am all for it. Milner at least has an incredible work rate, is a very good player in his own right, and is prepared to turn down massive wages so he can actually be a key contributor to a team. THAT is the type of player I want playing for Liverpool.
For the record, for those that aren't keen on Milner: http://www.whoscored.com/Articles/ttsjerc-mukx9nzngjbcdg/Show/Player-Focus-Managers-Dream-Milner-Proving-his-Worth-to-Manchester-City It's not an up-to-date focus, but there's no doubt that he's a good player. If you talk to a lot of City fans they often cite him as one of their best players when he's actually playing.

Tony Barrett - Man City are understood to be preparing an offer that would make Raheem Sterling one of their highest paid players.

No No No, masch and alonso left because they wanted barca and madrid, not because we were in debt.

indeed. the most BS drivel I've read from RA.
Masch and Alonso were sold because we had to pay debt
Alonso HANDED IN A TRANSFER REQUEST after we had gotten 86 points, because he had fell out with Rafa and was wanted by Perez for the new era of Galactico
Mascherano stayed an extra year (Barca wanted him in 2009) because of Rafa, but left when the greatest team in the world (at the time) wanted him. And Mascherano only went for 17M anyways. We had much more sell-able assets at the time who would have given us more money if we wanted to make profit (We rejected a 20M bid for Reina, also bids from RM for Gerrard).

I have no problem that we sell Sterling but what do we with that money. We should be really looking at established players now.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
We were 350m+ in debt when Alonso was sold.
Mascherano left a sinking ship, and all his fee went to our debt anyway.

Also, GERRARD rejected Madrid. Just like how Gerrard rejected every single club that came in for him.
Where's your source on Reina? The only thing I can find is him talking to the s*n which just proves me it's bullshit...

Established like Lovren? Or like Lallana? Or like Downing?

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
FSG bought the ENTIRE club for 300M.
how is it possible if we were in 350M debt alone !!
and Reina himself said it in an interview that he was close to joining Arsenal in 2010. And no, Pepe Reina didn't do the interview with the S*n.
ALONSO SOLD TO ADDRESS DEBT
I can imagine...Xabi Alonso crying to Rafa , please don't sell me to Madrid. I want to stay...I want to win PL here with you....let's plan poisoning the owners, so they won't sell me to address the debt. PLEASE, I WANNA STAY. Why am I the sacrifice lamb ...why cant you sell Dossena/Voronin instead to address debt !!

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Oy, anyway back on topic.
Ideally next season, assuming we persist with the 4-3-3 this is what I'd like to see as the base going into the summer:
???? - Skrtel - Sakho - Moreno
Henderson - ???? - Can
Lallana - ???? - Coutinho
Now, that leaves guys like Origi, Markovic and Ibe as bench players. Could they emerge as regulars? Possibly. The midfield would be an inverted triangle that acts almost like a deeper 4-2-3-1 so Coutinho could easily play the tip there with Henderson and Can as insulation. I'd like to have a defensive, experienced RB with an offensive CM (Wijnaldum? Kovacic? Fer?) and a striker obviously (Benteke? Higuain? Tevez?) Now, with our depth on the wings in terms of 'potential' (again, Ibe, Markovic, Origi who also operates as a striker) Coutinho could slot back into that offensive CM spot, but it would still be nice to get someone like one of the three I mentioned even if that were the case, for depth. I'm still not overly sure what to do about the fullback situation, but there are definitely guys out there.
We still have decent depth, and versatility with guys like Lucas, Allen, Markovic, Ibe, Origi, Ilori, Lovren, Flanagan and co. to rely on from the bench plus academy players.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Henderson-Fer-Can midfield. Please no. Fed the double relegated man yet is the saviour to our midfield. And 4-3-3 is useless if Rosgers stays. The only time we've looked solid defensively under Rodgers in 3 years is in a back 3. If he persists on a back 4 next season, he won't last the season.

Fer has been playing mostly AM for QPR, but can play CM, too. He has 6 goals and 4 assists in 2200 minutes this season for a relegated team while Coutinho has 5 goals and 7 assists in 2700 minutes.
Fer would be quite the decent addition to our team.

Decent, I agree. But not starting quality. On Coutinho, you will agree that no matter how many goals he have scored, he is a great player and his best position is AM.Art Morte wrote:iftikhar wrote:Fer isn't either starting quality or AM. Coutinho is AM

I'm not sure, he can go missing in that AM position when he needs to do something clever, but he is always fantastic in bringing the ball up. Coutinho might benefit our team more playing CM in a three-man midfield.
And I do think Fer is good enough to play for us. Not even hard to argue that one, since Allen is playing for us.

Okay then, six prem goals came because he had Austin and Zamora playing with him, okay lol. And he was Norwich's best player because Gary Hooper and Grant Holt were playing striker for them lol.
