Both Hendo and Lucas being overrated and underrated in this thread a lot, At the moment both are vital to this club but in an ideal scenario like 08-09 i dont see any of them starting consistently for a club like Liverpool.

But then again, Look where we've fallen. No need to sell Lucas and both Lucas and Henderson are great players for this club.

Ideally if we want to be a top club competing for CL, neither Lucas or Hendo would be starting for us. But given where we are, they are both important at the moment.

That's some statement, I'd think you're Ian Ayre or Gordon being that sure.

We've never spent 50M net under FSG (not even last summer), and there is no way we'll spend that amount without sales this summer either.

It's always been 20-30M + sales and I expect that to continue.

Our sales could easily amount to 25m+. There's a lot of garbage that we have to move out. And I mean A LOT.

Henderson is probably the best b2b midfielder in the PL and is behind only Fabregas amongst midfielders in the PL for goals + assists and brings way more to the table outside of offence than Fabregas and is only 24. Definitely not starting quality.

Who said we had so many amazing players? You realize it's a team game right? Young players 'vanish' (a gross exaggeration of Henderson in that game anyway) all the time. Where was Hazard against PSG? Sanchez against Monaco? Suarez against Chelsea last season? I guess they're all useless also

Also I never said Hendo was our best player. Coutinho is. But saying Henderson isn't starting quality for us is a farce.

But hey let's sell the whole team since nobody stepped up and carried us through one game. It's not like Henderson has been fantastic all term.

Henderson is a decent player and will be a great squad option going forward. If we aspire to be a top club, competing for the biggest prizes like we were from 2005-09...Henderson will be a James Milner squad sort of player. Not a name on the team sheet all the time and CERTAINLY not the captain.

It depends on your expectations and ambition I guess. btw, goals + assists stats for midfielders are useless. Aquilani had more assists in the league playing half the season in 09-10 than LUKA MODRIC who played full season.

Honestly, seeing Gundogan being linked to United for 21m really makes me hate everything about our club.

Rodgers is losing faith with Daniel Sturridge as the number one striker - Tony Barrett, Times.

Andy Hunter also ran a similar story in the Guardian.

Finally realizing we can't rely on this crippled guy. About 10 months too late but let's hope it means we're getting a reliable goalscorer in the summer.

He's the most realistic target and the SUREest bet we can get for goals.

Higuain is a good shout. Henderson is better than Gundogan but cry over that guy who has been nowhere near his previous level since his back injury.

Henderson is better than Milner and absolutely can be a starter and captain for a CL contender.

Goals + assists are important for any player, the funny thing is that it's the part of Hendo's game people complain about most yet there he is near the top in the entire league. Comparing him to Aquilani is just moronic.

You build around guys like Henderson and Coutinho. He is literally the least of this team's concerns. But whatever fits your narrative.

Kondogbia, Higuain, Clyne and Ings this summer with a keeper as well would be gold. More likely we will get a lower profile striker like maybe Volland or Vietto.

Higuain would be great, but I'm afraid Napoli will hold out for too big a fee - and perhaps importantly to FSG, Higuain would have little to no re-sale value after a few years.

What is Sterling better Memphis in?

He can't shoot to save his life, so definitely not that. He's a shittier finisher than Memphis so there goes that. They are both physical specimen. Dribbling wise, Sterling is one of the most overrated players in the world. Are you gonne tell me Sterling is a good passer?

What is he exactly better than Depay in? Work rate maybe, but that's as far as that list is.

I can't think of many things Sterling is better at than Memphis, but Memphis is also a bit overrated. He's better than Sterling right now though end provides something we desperately need...goalscoring. He has killer instinct and a very powerful shot. We need goals and Sterling has been woeful in that regard relative to the positions he's been out in.
