He'll train with the first team and play with Castilla until next season.
None of us except Thimmy has watched this guy play, so let's wait before making any judgement.

Does anyone of you have any somewhat reliable info on how much wages he will get, and how they compare to other Madrid players?

Hopefully not Shaw-esque wages.

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
the amount that i have seen from Norwegian medias is around 2 millions euros. There is no indication if it's before or after tax. He might come now and finish the season with Castilla, as opposed to playing poverty football in his countryHapless_Hans wrote:Does anyone of you have any somewhat reliable info on how much wages he will get, and how they compare to other Madrid players?

I've never read anything about the wage yet, just a 2-3 million transfer fee, with an additional 2-3 million performance based.
2 million is a lot for him so far though.

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
I've read 2,5 million a year. My questio would be is it before or after tax? (Spanish wages are often reported after tax right?)
We apparently offered him a graded 5 year contract, where wages would rise from 500k a year to 2m a year in the last year, before tax.
In any case that's a lot less, if the reported Real wage is before tax that''d be insane.

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
the wage isn't 2 million... wages are unknown. All we know is that his contract is for 6 years. The transfer fee is 2 million + bonuses that could reach another 2.

According to Marca lol, Norwegian papers say it's 3,5m and 7m wth addons. But surely Marca would have no reason to nudge it in Real's favour right.

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
people still giving slack to Marca, it's understandable. But Marca's new staff is great at the moment. their editor in chief, Inda, is great and well connected. They also hired El Confidential main madrid source, Jose Felix Diaz, who made that website relevant with madrid news in the past couple of years.
He is the one writing the article sports posted, so as far as madrid news go, i trust him more than most. EC is basically Marca now, lol

Norweigan papers says 20 million norske kroner which is 2,27m€ in both fee and addon. So 4,54m€ combined.

I read a paper citing "Drammens Tidende" about the 3,5m+, surely you'd know better of course.

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
Yeah... Marca poached all of El Confidencial's top reporters this past summer and those guys are legit.
It's never about the paper btw. It's always about the reporters at the paper. If Di Marzio went to Tuttosport for example, they'd immediately become legit in regards to the stories he would write.

Shaw get's his wages because he would start at LB at any PL club
turning 19 with 2 seasons of starting LB experience in the top flight
Odegaard has nowhere near those credentials, don't get why Shaw wages are used as some sort of negative or comparison.

oh is that why Jose was after him in the summer?
why Filipe Luis was 2nd choice for Chelsea as a LB target last summer?
Chelsea section was in a collective fapping state over "boyhood Chelsea fan" coming home, you all had him pencilled in your starting 11's for this season

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
well José understandably decided that it'd be more reasonable for Chelsea to get an absolute top left back for 2/3 of the wages Shaw demanded, and for half of the transfer fee

Re: Martin Ødegaard - Welcome to Arsenal
Because Shaw would've been a long term fix and Luis is a short term fix, but if spending +30/40M for Shaw would've prevented us to get Costa and Fabregas then I, Katy Perry, approve opting for Luis.B-Mac wrote:Abramovich wrote:B-Mac wrote:

Chelsea had to watch there spending because of FFP
had nothing to do with quality of the player
and Luis is benched by Azpilicueta a natural RB by trade
