Matt Law is reporting that both Courtois and Costa are keen to sign new deals with the club.

Both currently contracted until 2019, would like get another 2 years added on and ~50k Pounds extra a week.

England's coach Southgate wants Holland full time and he apparently agreed to join him. I don't have full knowledge on our staff dynamics and what impact and role Holland actually had, but I think the decision to keep him until the end of the year was right. The last time we changed the assistant manager mid-season in 10/11 it backfired. BTW, what is Ray Wilkins up to these days?

What's people expectations? I obviously think we are a contender for the league title but I won't be super disheartened if we don't win it. Obviously depends on the nature of how we don't do it if we don't.

Anything above a top 3 finish is a bonus.

Yea, we should definitely try to win the PL as long as we are in contention, but without any pressure to do so as long as we finish in a top 3/4.

Honestly I wouldn't even worry about the table right now. The reason we're first after being 8 points off City at some point in october is that we just kept our head down and worked hard, concentrated only on ourselves, and we should just keep doing that.

Arsenal/Tottenham/City/United will have months off european competition where they can have the same week preparation and a more stabilized first 11 just like us, so we'll be able to see how we stack up against them on an even ground.

The expectation has always been, and remains, top 4. Aside from that, I want to see our squad depth improve, namely a LWB.

The goal should be to win the title, but I won't be disappointed if we don't win.

I wonder how our old guard midfielders like him, Lamps and Essien would do under Conte. Maybe Lamps would struggle due to the more industrious role and having restricted chances to go for a goal, but the other two would flourish.

Odd, let's hope it works out.

Only concern for me is that given his background – both occupationally and ethnically – this seems like something likelier to have been brought about by Roman than Tony. And I'd hate to think that after all the latitude and faith the latter has surely earnt for himself after the last few months, and after how far the former seemed to have come since his days of constant meddling, that Abramovich would again start undermining managers with arbitrary appointments of his mates to positions of power.
