It's 2 legs though right, so that's worse than one game, against a stronger team.

Doesnt matter, We'd have to beat Chelsea anyway to win this. So we'll get 180 mins. Lets see.

ok, over two legs will be difficult, but if Sturridge is back, it will be fun to see everyone surrendering to SAS

Well whoever goes through this semifinal will win the whole thing. We beat City in the semi 3 years ago.
But was really hoping for Sheffield or Spurs. Shit draw regardless.

Re: Capital One cup 2016-2017
I wouldn't have minded Chelsea at all if it was a one-game semi. But it would have been so much easier if we got either Tottenham or Sheffield over a two-legged semi. Anyway, most likely the most deserving team will go to the final, so I'm ok with it. Just need to be on top of our game.

There's no way Mourinho will want us to win this. Just hope he has some sort of CL schedule/important EPL game somewhere inbetween.

Got Carlisle at Anfield. Lowest league club available. Great draw.

A good draw. Also, quite a few Prem sides facing each other, which is always nice.

Good draw ! The squad depth will be used here. Chance for Ings and Origi to show their mettle. When is the game btw?

Re: Capital One cup 2016-2017
I think it was a very generous draw and schedule for us. The game (September 22) is sandwiched between home games against Norwich and Aston Villa.

Re: Capital One cup 2016-2017
Southampton away is a tough one, I'd rather have taken Everton away or maybe even City away, because I don't like the chance of facing City in a two-legged semi-final.

Re: Capital One cup 2016-2017
Winnable competition for Klopp to bring in silverware. Will be interesting to see how seriously we take it in the next round with us looking like we are prioritising in Europa / the league.
Arsenal, Chelsea and United all out in the last round.

Re: Capital One cup 2016-2017
I guess most of the key injured players will be back (or may be not) in a month's time. So we will be able to field a stronger side for the coming rounds. But as you said, I would rather face City in the (one-off) final than in the (two-legged) SF.Art Morte wrote:Southampton away is a tough one, I'd rather have taken Everton away or maybe even City away, because I don't like the chance of facing City in a two-legged semi-final.

Would rather the two legged to be honest.
City aren't the best at Anfield. And a two legged guarantees we play at home.

I'm predicting/dreading Everton in SF and City in Final. But I also think, even then we can win it. But one step at a time, lets take care of the Saints first.

Re: Capital One cup 2016-2017
Feels a lot like last season where it was a very winnable competition with Chelsea as the only realistic team that would be favourites over us.
City would be favourites over us this year. Hope if we can get that far we don't see them until the finals.
