Barca only beat APOEL 1-0, guess they are in crisis too applying the Liverpool logic. Jokes aside, APOEL are a decent side and will take points of both other teams in cyprus

We were absolutely terrible and an average PSG should've destroyed us yet one point

Ajax. <3
Definitely needs to be some change there. Zimling really changed the midfield and was quite good. Ajax were really pushing for a winning goal at the end, and had the players been a bit more alert maybe would have scored off that wicked Schone free kick that hit the bar. El Ghazi should have been starting wide, and Andersen should never play the wing -- he's a central player that should have been starting maybe in Serero's spot instead.
Is how I'd like to see them line-up at least until Fischer is healthy and in form again. Or have Viergever in Zimling's place and Zimling in Andersen's place. Don't count them out of this group...PSG is very beatable.

It was good to see Ibrahimovic back in the club that taught him everything he knows. We should have won that game with ease. We showed to much fear and respected PSG too much. When we play with our principles and relieved of the shackles that bind us, we are unstoppable. I fear these mental anchors could see us not make it out of the group stage once again.

This is a huge matchday for Ajax. Given who PSG is missing and their current form they should be set up to lose 'big' to Barca. If Ajax can come away with a win here that would be a massive group result for them IMO.

Today is the day we will get exposed. Poor MAtS. He'll concede all the goals Bravo should've conceded. And then some.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group F
Why would you get exposed against PSG of all teams right now? They're 5 points off the lead in Ligue 1 of all things, and are missing their two best players.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group F
This is the CL. League form doesn't matter. I've heard it thousand times before from Milan fans how they were going to get trashed. Never happened (okay, once 4-0 but apart from that ). Also look at their lineup. How is midfield of Verratti-Matuidi-Motta with the likes of Cavani and Lucas upfront going to get trashed? It's still a solid team even without Ibra.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group F
Because Verratti, Matuidi and Motta have not been on form and neither has Cavani. Lucas has actually been the only one performing quite well by his standards. Look at their defence. Without Silva and Ibrahimovic they are a very crushable team for Barcelona especially since they don't close down and park the bus.

I blame Alba thinking he's Maradona, dribbling the ball in his own half to cause the corner kick.
Then I blame Lucho for chit tactics.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group F
Since when did League form matter in or relate to CL lol?
It means absolutely nothing, there's been countless teams who have won the CL and been nowhere near their own league.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group F
I'm so free to copy what I wrote about MAtS in the Barca section as that will likely not read by the usual GenSec readers...
MAtS has been touted as *the* big German GK talent (together with Bernd Leno) since he first showed up at BMG. I remember how he was thrown into the deep end of the pond at BMG with 18 years after he only played 3rd division before.
From the first day, he convinced everybody and while BMG was bottom of the table when his predecessor was ousted, he then only allowed an average of 0.5 goals/match and BMG stayed in the Bundesliga after all.
Practically all experts in Germany agreed that MAtS was actually more talented than Manuel Neuer and better than him at the same age and he did develop nicely at BMG.
The drawback was when he was called up to the German NT and pretty much messed up there. This was probably why Ron-Robert Zieler (who didn't really look better in the league than MAtS) was prefered to him for the NT, although MAtS is believed to have a higher ceiling.
MAtS *is* a very bright young goalie, and you can be sure that his mistakes today are not general problem, but lack of coordination with the defense as he was never allowed to properly gel with them. Luis Enrique is doing his goalies quite a disservice with his rotation as MAtS will never really look good when he is only allowed to play every 6 or 7 matches and that in the CL.
