Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
will be interesting whether Can takes his place or Klopp makes some other adjustments ! I am not sure if Can can replace Wijnaldum. Can has a habit of misplacing passes very oftern and he simply runs into blind allys.

Emre is better suited to replace/rotate Henderson, IMO.Helmer wrote:will be interesting whether Can takes his place or Klopp makes some other adjustments ! I am not sure if Can can replace Wijnaldum. Can has a habit of misplacing passes very oftern and he simply runs into blind allys.

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
I'm not sure that Can is currently able to really replace anyone in the side. Maybe as a fullback with Milner coming into midfield.
Henderson and Wijnaldum are tempo setters for our midfield and as mentioned above Can tends to misplace a lot of passes and try to do too much himself sometimes. Maybe Klopp has coached that out of him so I'm willing to wait and see how he does when he gets his chance to play, which should be this game given our injury state.
Now if we still had Joe Allen........

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
Can played fullback a lot in Germany and for their NT system. I trust Milner more in midfield than I do Can; especially for a game of this magnitude.

Joe Gomez played today. From all reports he was a beast too. He's seriously the future of our defence if any of his showings to date are any indication of what he can be.

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
At the moment he just needs to be in the rotation and get games. Thinking of him as the main starters is years away.
For now we need to build with Matip and find him a partner better than Lovren, which Van Dijk will be hopefully.

Suggestion from inside Anfield is Coutinho injury isn't as bad as first feared - only scans will confirm though

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
A calf problem was also the reason Liverpool were without Daniel Sturridge for the Anfield encounter, with the striker reporting tightness in the muscle.
Klopp explained: “He had a tight calf. He hasn’t trained for two days and I have no idea when he is back. It is not sure that he can train tomorrow, so he was out because of this injury.”
a tight muscle is this guy for real. you wouldent want this guy in the trenches with you if things got bad. ive seen Frenchman with more back bone than Sturridge.

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
Speaking after the game, Klopp confirmed Coutinho’s issue was with his ankle, but remained optimistic over the playmaker’s recovery.
“We have to wait for the scan, what we know in this moment is it’s something with the ankle. That’s it, so we all have to wait,” he said.
“Pain gets better, in the first moment it was very painful, but already when I saw him at half-time he said it was much better.
“As I said, we have to wait. I’m quite an optimistic guy, so I hope he can train tomorrow!”

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
I'm surprised they're saying it's the ankle and not the foot. To me it looked like his foot hit the defender's foot mid-air. I don't know how there'd be enough force there to cause a bad ankle injury, but a foot injury.

If the foot is not broken it's not a bad injury. Will probably be back next week

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
I think we need Coutinho back for ManCity game. If Lallana can can regain his pre injury form, we should be able to somehow survive and be in the title race till January.

Klopp: "Phil's scan is this afternoon. Adam's in a very good way - close to team training, but not ready for the game. Dan's not training"
Firmino is still in pain.
So Lallana and Firmino should be back for Bournemouth.

Re: Liverpool Injury Thread
Jürgen Klopp has confirmed Adam Lallana has resumed training ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Bournemouth this weekend, while Roberto Firmino is also in contention for the trip to the south coast.
Lallana has not figured for the Reds since the victory over Watford on November 6 due to a groin injury sustained while on international duty with England.
Meanwhile, Firmino picked up a calf issue during last weekend’s win against Sunderland at Anfield, but both players are back in full training at Melwood.
Klopp told reporters at his pre-match press conference: “There will be a few changes, probably. I’m happy about each player that is back in training.
“Adam has been training since Thursday; yesterday was the first session and he looked good. We need to see how he reacts to the intensity of the training yesterday – it was quite intense for him, I think, but all good. Having him back is cool.
“Roberto trained yesterday, too. That’s important. There’s still a little bit of pain – it’s painful but not that serious. When you can deal with the pain, then everything is fine. He is quite a tough guy, so he came through the session yesterday. Again, we have to see how he reacts and that’s it.”
Elsewhere, Daniel Sturridge will miss the visit to Bournemouth as he continues to recover from a calf complaint, while Klopp said a decision was still to be made on whether Ben Woodburn would be a part of the travelling squad.
does anyone else see a little dig at Sturridge in that

so in other words firmino will play through a bit of calf pain because he is a tough guy who can deal with a bit of pain. but Sturridge cant.
