Alan Pardew insists Newcastle United still want star striker
United have other targets – a trio of Continental strikers all under the age of 28, The Journal understands – but Pardew says negotiations for them will progress in parallel with further discussions on Erdinç.
He said: “All transfers are always alive until such time as someone buries them. We’re not burying this one.”
“It’s obvious we’re looking to get a striker in, we’re not just paying lip service to it. We have made bids, that is in the public domain.
“But we have to make sure it’s the right player, that is the most important thing.”
So who do you think it will be?
My money is on Craig Bellamy or Emile Heskey

Bellamy? Back at the Toon Army?
Would be very interesting to see his behaviour. Will never forget the text he sent to Shearer. Legend.

You can get Nicklas Bendtner for about £10,000,000.

If Newcastle are serious about making a push for the top half, they do need another new striker.
Demba Ba is certainly an improvement on what they already had, but I wouldn't say he is top quality. There are better strikers out there who would be willing to play for Newcastle: put it that way.

He had a good spell towards the end of the season with West Ham, but he needs to perform at the top level for a longer spell.McLewis wrote:How is Demba Ba not considered a star striker?
Maybe he will go on to prove me wrong, but I think that there are lots of better players out there who Newcastle can sign.

Bendtner would actually be a decent buy for you guys.
I would have said go for Rondón, but I doubt he's leaving Malaga. He'd rip it in the PL.

We have French striker who will fit in perfectly with all their french players in midfield. We wont even ask for money like the greedy Arsenal ask for poor Bendtner which would siut Ashley perfectly too.
Anyone know Pardew's number?

Anelka would be a good signing for them if they are able to pay the transfer fee.
If I was the Chelsea manager, I would keep Anelka, as he was actually one of Chelsea's better players last season, but it seems he will be sold and for £9m, a lot of clubs would surely show interest in him.
