Zidane to manage Castilla in the 2014/2015 season
http://www.realmadrid.com/en/news/2014/06/zidane-to-manage-castilla-in-the-2014/2015-season
Zinedine Zidane will manage Castilla next season. Zizou, who was Carlo Ancelotti’s first squad assistant coach this year, will start a new stage of his career at Real Madrid. Zidane will be joined by youth coach Santiago Sánchez and has already started working on future plans for the reserve team squad.

Our u18s were incredibly successful in this season gone by. I expect Zizou should bring a bunch of them up. They're meant to be our 'golden generation'... Very exciting.
ALSO, he may be coaching Enzo Fernandez and, who knows... Could turn him into a genius, like his father

Alvaro Fidalgo was named best u17 player in the world and u17 GK (forgot the name)was named best u17 GK in the world.
Hopefully with Zidane many players wil find their way easier to the first team. J-Rod and Benavente have WC potential. De Tomas and Derik are good too from what ive seen. hala can help us with some details about who should be loaned/promoted

Glad Zidane is taking over because he will probably try and make them play like the first team whichh would make it easier to promote the players based on position. We have some problems with some positions such as the RB position where we have no players after Quini was released. I wouldn't want to see Llorente there because I believe this is taking away from his real qualities as a CB.
Lucas Vasquez does not look like he is staying either but I don't really care because I find him awfully one dimensional anyways. It will be very hard to hold on to Burgui he has several bids from LaLiga teams but if Zudane wants to promote Castilla in his first season he needs to hold on to Burgui.
Pachecho had a decent season but compared to last season this one was poor, I wouldn't mind Ruben Yanez taking over who is tipped as the next big thing (like Pachecho was before him )
From what I have seen the guys who have the best chance of getting promoted are:
-Burgui
-Pachecho
-J Rod
-Alvaro Medran (this guy is a natural talent)
-Llorente
But for next season I'd like all these to stay with Castilla.
The line up with a 4-3-3 would be:
In a 4-4-2
Also I hope to god he improves our set piece defending which is pathetic

Re: Zidane to manage Castilla in the 2014/2015 season
J Rod had a poor season, he is going to have to show better attitude if he wants to move/first team football. There is alot of talk that it would be best if Benavente and Medran left to get first team experience somewhere else but it looks like they have both been asked to stay for at least one additional season

Re: Zidane to manage Castilla in the 2014/2015 season
castilla play so poorly, they have no clue how to bring the ball out of the defense, and they end of hoofing a lot an trying to counter to get chances. The way they play is underwhelming, currently watching La Roda vs RM castilla. Not the first time i watch them this season, and it's the same pretty much

I think that Raul might be a better coach than Zidane

Re: Zidane to manage Castilla in the 2014/2015 season
They're in second place and second in goals scored...
The mandate since Mou has been that Castilla has to play the same tactics as the senior team so that, if needed, the senior team can call up a player and he's tactically ready. Last year, Castilla played tighter lines with a 3 man mid (which is why Odegaard was a mess since he can't play CM).
So blame Rafa for the tactics. He sets it. Midfield is too thin.

Re: Zidane to manage Castilla in the 2014/2015 season
hmm i don't want none of these popular former players as coaches. because i know its based on their careers as footballers that fans largely get excited. i'd rather a coach who i'm sure knows what he's doing....not his assistant, but he himself. i hope for a manager ; someone who can coach, build a team, and given enough authority to suggest who he wants and doesn't want. i don't want a coach who's job is simply to be florentino's flunky and fit any and everyone into the team
one thing zidane will have is the respect of the team, cos his career isn't far removed from their minds, most of these guys if not all have seen him play. what i'm not sure of is his tactical nuances and how he wants to build the team. i don't follow castilla, but people have told me what his ideals are....and right now we don't have the players to play in that fashion....for the sake of his reputation as well as our results, i'd rather we think hard before going that route
it seems like we've gone through every good coach on the list, but i'd rather we go for someone who has a plan, knows how to execute it, and has some positive experience (not coming 5th with napoli). i always think to myself, if it wasn't zidane, and just another guy coaching castilla, even if castilla was first, he probably won't be recommended. oh and definitely NOT raul, just cos he had a great career here doesn't mean we should install him as coach, the man has said he isn't even interested....we need to look beyond their football careers people....what's next, someone will suggest el phenomeno coach the team?!?

Re: Zidane to manage Castilla in the 2014/2015 season
that's complete and utter bs, Zidane is independent to do as he pleases, to line up however he wants. As if Zidane is down there just waiting for Benitez to fax each week's tactic, pls stop.sportsczy wrote:They're in second place and second in goals scored...

Zidane's team is playing like shet, and we should say it. League position is irrelevant.

Re: Zidane to manage Castilla in the 2014/2015 season
Zidane will be as good a coach as Laurent Blanc... why? Laurent Blanc manages the games, the egos and the motivation. The details of the preparation and tactics are handled completely by his right hand man, Jean-Louis Gasset.
All you need is to follow that model. Blanc had a vision and a philosophy... he asked Gasset to implement it while he took care of the rest.
Deschamps does the same... his guy is Guy Stephan.
Who could that person be? There are a lot of options. Since he's french and studied in France, i can see Zidane bringing in a bench of Makelele (to be the liaison with the players) and Hans-Dieter Flick (Germany assistant manager since 2006).

Re: Zidane to manage Castilla in the 2014/2015 season
Nick.... i actually don't just watch a game here and there. I follow Castilla. They changed tactics completely this year to follow in the path of what Rafa is running.... namely, it's a 4231. Last year, they played a 433.
Zidane has been ON RECORD saying that the job of Castilla is to prepare players for Real Madrid whenever called. Winning is the secondary objective, although he did state that winning is also a responsibility obviously.
It's like this everywhere btw, not just Madrid. The youth teams are not autonomous tactically. The technical direction of the squad is dictated and all levels follow... that could come from the manager or someone else. For Madrid, it's the manager right now. Heck, the elite NTs work this way too... most notably Spain, Netherlands and Germany. France has mandated this too starting in 2012.

Deschamps has a philosophy?
well, let's pray Zidane finds a good assistant, right now his guy is garbo.
but this is where we are, our future lies in the hand of some shadow assistant

Re: Zidane to manage Castilla in the 2014/2015 season
Of course he does... his teams have all played the same style from Juve to Monaco to Marseillle and now NT. But since there's a technical mandate in France since 2012, he's been asked to transition to a more possession type game. Thus, he switched to a 433 from his preferred 4231. It's transitioning.
Guy Roux rants about this all the time on media saying France is trying to become Spanish lol.
