Re: Brazil 2014 Referee Watch Thread
This WC is pre-ordained anyhow... the referee for the Brazil-Croatia game was the same guy who made massive mistakes in WC2010 to help Holland beat Brazil. Why would you put a ref in there that probably feels bad for having screwed Brazil in the last WC? Doesn't the reffing committee look at these things?? Out of all the refs, they couldn't pick one who had no history with either team
Second, WCs are known for match fixing to help the local team. It's just a fact. Back in 1978, Cruyff decided to skip the WC... you know why? (he admitted it publicly later). The secret police in Spain raided his home and took he and his wife for questioning 2 months before the tournament. He wouldn't say what he was told... but it forced him to declare forfeit for the Argentina WC in 1978. With his, Holland would have been unbeatable imo. The dictator of Spain was best friends of the dictator in Argentina at the time. Also, Passarella punched a Holland player in the final that makes Zidane's headbut look like a lovetap and, yet, he got nothing. Not to mention that the coach of France, Hidalgo, narrowly escaped being abducted (same pool as Argentina).
I hope you all remember how ridiculous the reffing was to help South Korea in WC 2002, especially in the game against Italy, etc.
Unfortunately, football has become such that politics are overwhelming the sport, which is tragic. Can you imagine if Brazil lost prematurely in this WC? There's already unrest... it would be like throwing a match on gun powder. And Brazilians still haven't gotten over losing it in 1950 For me, it's clear as day that Brazil is going to be massively helped to win this WC by the refereeing for political reasons... now, they can lose despite all the help. But every opponent should realize that they will never get a fair shake. It's just not possible.

of course we are going to get help, as you said, imagine us going out early, it would be a disaster.Brazillians aren't happy with hosting the WC, imagine losing it on top of that.
let's see how it goes in the next games though, because the pressure will be immense on the referee and I think we won't be as favored as we would initially.I can see us not getting a single penalty for the rest of the WC unless it's blatant

Re: Brazil 2014 Referee Watch Thread
By the way Ganso, Scolari was ridiculous in his post-game. He saw the replay 20 times and it was a penalty every single time? Really?? What an arse.
In any case, i think Brazil will get all the calls, including the Pks. But it guarantees nothing, ref or no ref... just gives a big advantage.
What's happened to Brazil Ganso. I used to dream about your football when i was growing up... i can understand get tougher on defense. Fine. But the offensive flair and style is completely gone. The only one that has some of that in him is Oscar... only one. Fluidity is gone. You guys need to get it back if for nothing else, for me ffs

Re: Brazil 2014 Referee Watch Thread
Scolari said that because he always defends his team, he later said that he would be taking the same actions as Croatia's manager if he was in his position. Obviously Felipao didn't see a pen lol
About the flair, that is on felipao. We could have Hernanes in the pivot, Bernard-Willian with Oscar and Nerman playing CF.That would be very flair-ish,however, do you think that would win us the WC?I think, that after 1982, we got traumatized by playing all out attacking football.we decided that results maybe meant more than entertainment, so we started going the Italy way.the 1994 and 2002 teams played pragmatic football, specially 1994 when we also only had Bebeto and Romario with the flair (kind of like Oscar-Neymar atm).
It must be noted that the players were WAY too nervous yesterday, some of them were crying on kick-off, from now on i think the team will tighten up and actually play better offensively (and defensively).
It also must be noted that Croatia ptb and are a very good team, no team in this WC will be able to play well against them.I pity whoever faces them next, specially since Mandzukic will be back.the crowd will also go in favor of Croatia,I think.

Re: Brazil 2014 Referee Watch Thread
The problems in 1982-1986 was not the flair... it was the defense and keeping. The CBs wanted to score goals, the fullbacks wanted to score goals... heck, maybe the keeper did too The defensive shape was non-existent. You don't need to sacrifice most of the flair to fix that. All you need is for the defense to play tactically. That's it. But Brazil have become a Mourinho team ffs... it makes my cry tbh. Way too extreme. Brazil won 3 WCs in the 13 WCs through 1986 and have 2 in the last 6. You don't need to win it every time. The reason the world loved Brazil was not the trophies... it was the flair.

Unbelievable, two legit goals disallowed! And dos Santon should probably have had a penalty. Ruins the WC spirit when you have to watch this shit refereeing.

what bs? score valid goals next time, the refs are doing a great job, u need to stop scoring offside goals and asking for penalties all the time. we are containing u no problem, we will attack late in the game and finish u off

Only 2 games in and we're getting disgraceful calls to last an entire tourno.

Re: Brazil 2014 Referee Watch Thread
some bad refereeing going on in the 2nd fixture of the tourney too. 2 disallowed legit goals for Mexico.. pretty poor decisions from the linesman.
As for Brazil - I agree sports, Brazil aren't the same.. I'd say that international football on the whole is getting more and more "europeanised".. with the worlds best playing in Europe from a young age.
Brazilian players of the 60s/70s/80s were Brazilian bred and played there for the vast majority of their careers. The Socrates, Zicos etc have been replaced by players who have been adapted to European football.

Re: Brazil 2014 Referee Watch Thread
Sadly, Fifa wants an african team to get out of the group stages so bad that they have to ruin games with corrupt refs. Brazil must also go far ofc, everybody wants to see "samba" with Neymar elbowing people and only getting a yellow
