Who will visit Brazil 2014?
It's rapidly approaching, and we're less than 2 years away. My question is, do any of you here on the forum plan to be in Brazil for the 2014 WC? I've been saving up for a while now just for that, and I was wondering if anyone else is doing the same.

Re: Who will visit Brazil 2014?
i am hoping to go.
hopefully i will be done with uni and i would have some cash saved from my work. will probably have to save a few grands during uni. it cost a grand alone just for the flight, then there hotels, food and tickets.
if i can't make it to WC i think i will go to Olympics for sure

You should probably include something about the actual topic in the title. not just "A serious question".
I want to go, still havent been to a worlc cup yet. Wouldnt mind knowing from people who have travelled to Brazil and world cups what kind of cost's I may be looking at and can offer some insight into the logistical side of the trip.

Was considering going but as most are saying it depends mostly on money. I will have just finished my degree so will most likely have just started a new job aswell. 2018 is much more realistic for me.

Re: Who will visit Brazil 2014?
Yeah, it does come down to the financial aspect really. But its cool to see that some of u are interested. I see it as a once in a lifetime event just because its in Brazil, and its a world cup ffs!!!! But a friend of mine has been before and says that it can be sketchy in certain areas. I too would like to hear any info from anyone who's ever been.

2014 is too soon for me, but I will definitely try to go to Qatar 2022 because it's close by.

2018 seems better for me, I'd be finished with university and have a job to be able to go in a more comfortable experience.

Lets say that I'm coming in from California (hypothetically), and my plan is to arrive around May. What would you suggest to be a good place to arrive at, and what's better?: hotels, apts., etc?Catracho wrote:All of the Brazilians of the board will be there... that is including I

Re: Who will visit Brazil 2014?
I've hooked up a living arrangement at a friends place in Vidigal, Rio. Saving money isn't really an issue. I got 5 weeks of paid vacation a year and have never been able to spend more than my months salary while abroad since almost every place in the world is cheaper than Sweden.
I went to Rio in February for Carnaval and when I got home I had more money on my account than I would if I'd been at home living my life as usual.

oh i'm sorry, beer is legal, it's only ridiculously overpriced because local population can't drink it and you need an employer's permit to buy one, that's perfectly reasonable

Yet, according to Hassan Al Sayed, a prominent Qatari legal expert, there is not a single law in Qatar that allows for the sale of alcohol. However, there are several laws that criminalize it.

sale of alcohol in qatar is legal only under strict restrictions... true or false?
revealing clothing for women is banned in qatar... true or false?
i couldn't give a shit what their skin colour or religion is, if a bunch of white atheists started a country and banned alcohol and titties i'd ridicule them just the same

You said that the sale of alcohol was completely prohibited in your original post, so stop twisting the facts to your benefit. Qatar (in their WC bid) said that they would allow alcohol in certain areas and that they would be more lenient during the WC.
And, define 'revealing clothing', if a woman wears a mini skirt and has her cleavage showing then that's fine, I live in the Middle East and I've seen it plenty of times when I'm downtown. Take what Larissa Riquelme was wearing back in the 2010 WC, that's fine, and even being a little more revealing would be fine also. But if you think women will be allowed to run around wearing only their underwear, then that's definitely too much and should not be allowed, that's common sense.
You're acting as if 90% of women actually wear extremely revealing clothing. I've been to the west and other countries before, and most women are actually dressed pretty respectfully. And from what I've seen what the majority of women wear is going to be allowed in Qatar 2022 from what I've understood.
No need to exaggerate.

Re: Who will visit Brazil 2014?
I've been saying I want to go to WC Brazil since it was announced they got it. When 18 and 22 robbed USA, I knew I had to go. Money isn't really the issue, it's finding friends who have the money and are dedicated enough to go :/
