Re: Pre World Cup Friendlies Thread
England need a foreign manager imo. Most British managers just don't have that extra knowledge of how to play properly or how to play technical football.

Rooney needs to be benched or start at LW where he has no creative responsibility.

You want to play a passing game with cloggers like Gerrard, Henderson and Wellbeck

Problem is, they keep picking foriegn coaches who play lifeless football. Like Capello.
Sven wasnt any better, I guess they got gassed by his Lazio...not understanding the amount of money that was spent on that team.

Re: Pre World Cup Friendlies Thread
There is, basically, no discernible style of play at the moment, which was something I thought was a problem before we even played these games. As RG said, nobody seems quite sure what there role in the side is, and that leads to a dysfunctional looking team producing odd moments of good football and even more moments of poor football.
The team against Ecuador played better because it was more obvious what the players' jobs were. You had Barkley as the creator in the middle, Lambert to occupy the defenders and act as a focal point and Chamberlain and Rooney to provide the spark from the flanks.
Barkley has come on, it seems. Let's see how they play now.

Wilshere and Barkley coming on for eng. Looks like Gerrard and Rooney off.

And so the cycle begins anew.Yohan Modric wrote:England need a foreign manager imo. Most British managers just don't have that extra knowledge of how to play properly or how to play technical football.
Not sure Lallana is still a great pick to play as a wide forward winger. He might have started his career there but he's transformed into more of an attacking midfielder now.RealGunner wrote:Rooney needs to be benched or start at LW where he has no creative responsibility.

Besides, it's all well and good to set up a formation like Liverpool's but it'll do no good if the team itself isn't instructed to PLAY like Liverpool with the pressing and lightning counters.

Except that you're playing Henderson is a role he's neither familiar with nor terribly good at.

Re: Pre World Cup Friendlies Thread
Gerrard's capable of passing imo, but it's mainly about getting all the technical players on if England want to play possession.
Anyway it's not just possession, it looks like Hodgson has no definite plan on how to play. Just all seems random.

I think you'll see a difference now that Rooney is not playing as the no.10 anymore. It happens at a utd too when we play Kagawa/Mata instead.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Hodge-ball. In his 70+ years of footballing experience Roy has never really bothered to learn how a team should play WITH the ball.

That's the actual team atm lol. Unless you meant 'you're' as in England.
seems like both Wilshere n Henderson are in the pivot.

Temp
Let's hope that kicks Jozy Altidore into gear... best possible time for him to find the net after his poor season. Amazing how much difference it makes to play in a system that actually utilizes his strengths and provides supporting players and chances for him.

"You're" was referencing both England and the fact that you said The Hodge was following your posted suggestion.RealGunner wrote:RedOranje wrote:RealGunner wrote:Wilshere and Barkley coming on for eng. Looks like Gerrard and Rooney off.

No one expects us to win the WC or even reach the semis. Roy should just play the youngsters in the WC.
