I was fairly certain we've had a thread for this but couldn't find it so here it goes

Which scrubs are going to make a name for themselves at the WC, go for a high fee with clubs dying to sign the next hot star, but then inevitably go back to mediocrity after the WC fever sets? (a la Gyan, Diouf, etc)

Forlan was not a scrub though. He had a great career before the World Cup. You can never predict pseudo stars tbh, that's what makes them pseudo stars. Someone unknown becomes a start and then after a lot of hype slowly fades back to obscurity after the tournament.

Biggest pseudo star of all time has to be Salvatore Scillachi Laughing

Costa Rica's Joel Campbell might have what it takes to produce a few highlight reel moments even in their tough group, but then again he is already an Arsenal player - on loan at Olympiacos - so I don't know does he count.

Switzerland's Garvanovic or Drmic?

Algeria's Slimani?
