Bloomberg claim that their evaluation is the most scientifically advanced study in the world - they include the attacking prowess of each player, their defending & the quality of the opposition. They analyzed every player in Europe's top 5 leagues - English, Spanish, German, Italian & French. The checked their strengths and weaknesses in passing, creativity, tackling, heading, shooting and scoring.

The Bloomberg rankings evaluates players in their playing positions and takes into account opponent strength in each game throughout the season. The analysis covers more than 100 types of player actions, leading to about 1,000 to 1,500 data points for each player per match. The data then generates a BSports Rating (BSR).

It's amazing when you consider that Suarez could rest for his "rating" games, three times injured no running Messi was still the most influential player of the season.
