Barcelona cleared of any irregularities regarding the summer signing of Neymar

Barcelona have been cleared of any irregularities in relation to the signing of Neymar by the LFP, the national sports association responsible for La Liga.

A statement released by the club read: 'FC Barcelona wish to express their satisfaction at the resolution of the Economic Control Committee of the Liga Nacional de Futbol Professional (LFP) that there is no existence of any irregular conduct committed by FC Barcelona in the signing of Neymar Jr.'

'FC Barcelona would like to place on record its complete willingness to continue to provide the committee with any further information related to the signing.'

'According to the committee: “in view of the appeal made to the LFP by FC Barcelona (...), there is no evidence of any irregular conduct committed by the Club which would have infringed the rules and regulations of the LFP. As a result of this, no further action in this matter will be taken”

'The Economic Control Committee of the Liga Nacional de Futbol Professional (LFP) ordered FC Barcelona to provide a series of documents in February and having analysed them in full has reached the decision that there were no irregularities whatsoever by the Club in the signing of Neymar Jr.'

The Committee met last Wednesday before the decision was published on Friday

correct me if I am wrong but haven't they only suspended it until the appeal has been finalized?

Barca have admitted theyre in the wrong, whether theyre punished is another thing.
The spanish authorities have been punished for allowing it to happen. Hence im not shocked at this ruling.

It is. One is stealing money from the public, and the other is actually helping kids have a better future(needless to say that I don't agree with the underage rule).

I would guess the kids parents would be the best to decide whats best for their kids and not you, me or FIFA..

Spain's economy might be bad, but Barça is one of the richest clubs in the world..

yes but what you fail to understand is that these rules are for all the clubs in europe, the poor and the rich not every club can treat these players like Barca, Madrid, United, Bayern etc etc can.

these rules are for everyone there are no exceptions for you because you have more money.

Indeed they are, that's not my point. My point was that, just because LFP are more flexible with a certain rule, a rule that could and should be improved, they are not as tolerant with them stealing money from the public..

According to Cadena Ser, Inspectors of the spanish IRS have informed the judge Ruz that's ruliung over barca's case that Barcelona have committed Tax fraud in the signing of neymar. Sandro Rosell and Barcelona will have to designated legal representatives to appear in front of the judge. barcelona already paid 13.5 millions in advance but that doesnt exempt them of committing the fraud since they paid that money after the legal procedure had started.

usually jail time for the people responsible for the fraud above and beyond fines too... depends how much of an example the government wants to make. This is BOTH criminal and civil. They're not mutually exclusive.

Uli Hoeness, for example, still had to go to jail despite paying up.

In Spain it is different though isn't it ? Messi was in a similar situation before, he paid the tax and didn't go to jail.

you don't pay back owed taxes if you are not guilty. Spain is in a financial mess for a reason. If they'd punished Messi to make an example less people would do fraud in that country. Hope they punish Barca severely
