Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V9
Sagna is going to city just to sit down and to count his money. He will play here and there, compete for trophies, and chill for his last couple of years. Smart guy, he had a good career.

Can't even blame him if he goes there, gave 100% here every game, was hands down the best RB in the league for years and our management don't even offer him a respectful contract to end his career. Good luck to him where ever he goes.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V9
Why would Arsenal offer a declining player a fat contract simply because he was good before? That's going against common business sense.
Now, it's a bad decision to let him go if the club wont invest in a better player next summer. Anyway, i dont know what arsenal are offering compared to city and what the player is asking

Sagna hasn't been anything special for a couple of years now. It would probably be wiser for Arsenal to buy a younger RB, I don't see the benefit of having Sagna hanging around for 3 or more years.

Sagna earns 50k? dafuq?! And Bendtner earns 60k or something, doesn't he? Podolski 100k as well..
Arsenal's wage structure needs a complete overhaul.

Szcz is already on 100k as well.
Lots are made of Arsenal not spending in the market, but their wage bill is ridiculous. A lot like how ours was prior to FSG arrival and making it performance-based.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V9
True.. our wage bill was over the top but atleast the wages were relevant to the players' talent or reputation, which I'm not saying was a good thing.
On the other hand, you have Arsenal where Podolski, currently a benchwarmer, gets paid TWICE as much as the team's longest serving player and one of the consistent performers since 2007.

Sagna has had 1 bad year, the year he broke his leg twice in a season, other than that I don't see how he's been nothing special, he's as good as he's been the year he arrived.
Why sign someone younger when you have someone as experienced and good as Sagna? Do you think it's wise to let Gerrard go and sign someone younger? Didn't think so. I'm furious... the worst is we'll sign some scrub like Coleman to replace him

Yes
I'm just trolling anyway mate. None the less though i still don't think it would be a bad thing anyway.... I.E having fullbacks who can actually impact the offensive side.
Your biggest problem outside the forward threat remains that your defense is not protected anywhere near well enough.

Morte's view on Sagna is actually fairly consistent with his views expressed elsewhere.

Anyway, we've signed Henderson and rumours about Adam are still there. Aquilani hasn't been sold yet. Somewhat confusing.
If we got an offer for Gerrard that's £ 10m+ / £ 15m+, would you consider it if you were in charge?
I absolutely adore him, but thinking purely business wise, his peak is over and chances are that after a couple of seasons he won't fit in our Starting XI.
ps. I'm not keen on selling him, just thought to ask what you lot think.
I think Arsenal would want an actual defender at RB rather than an auxiliary RW/RM player who struggles with defensive positioning and one-on-one situations.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Yes it would be awful to sign Coleman one of the best FBs in the league this season

My opinion is one where I dare you to find a quote of me saying that I have actually demanded Gerrard to be sold and that comparing Sagna's and Gerrard's importance to their respective clubs in this moment in time is anything but a rational comparison

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V9
A bit surprised to see All of Allen, Henderson, and Gerrard starting. I was rather expecting one would be dropped to the bench with both Coutinho and Sterling starting in a 4-3-3 like we deployed against Arsenal and Everton.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V9
Against Arsenal and Everton we played counter attacking though. So we needed Sterling's from the start.
Here think we will have most of the ball and Sunderland will defend most of the game i assume. So Sterling coming on against tired legs in 2nd half might be more effective

The diamond is meant to help solidify and protect our defense though, which really oughtn't be necessary at home to Sunderland.

From Rodgers
Apparently we played 3-5-2 last weekend
"We played against 3-5-2 at the weekend and worked it out as the game went on. Sunderland are fighting for their lives and they need the points to stay in the league.
"I would like to say a massive thank you to the supporters for the welcome we got tonight. We have been away from Anfield for some time and it is nice to be back. Hopefully we will bring that onto the pitch tonight."
