Ohhhh btw just finished East of Eden. Great book, but I'm not seeing where people like it more than Grapes of Wrath and consider it his best novel. I preferred Grapes of Wrath, which sucked me in after a slow beginning. East of Eden kept me interested all the way through (despite another kind of slow beginning, Steinbeck pls), but never did I get to a point where I couldn't put it down--at no point did it become a real "page-turner". That's not always a bad thing, but I just never got into it like I did Grapes of Wrath.

Certainly is a novel of fairly grand proportions and perhaps the 600 pages was one reason why it never became a "page-turner". Still, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone, though I prefer Grapes, I think I like the themes presented in East of Eden more.

Starting on the LotR trilogy now Thumbs up

Unfortunately in this case there's very few people in the misc who think like that, maybe they will now. The whole forum is having a mini meltdown too, every thread with Elliot Rodgers name in it is getting locked and deleted.

On a happier topic (actually tbh it's equally as depressing), whose watching origin tonight?
