Di Maria as a CM

Did you guys noticed the position Di Maria was playing last night with Argentina was a lot more withdrawn than he used to with RM?

he was virtually playing as a CM, using his insane work rate and running to cover space and press for the football. A bit odd, but i remember Mourinho used him once or twice in that role in CL or in copa. It didnt look so good tho.

what do you think, is it an option mourinho has in mind? he reminded me a bit of ramires lol

lol, the RB idea was ridiculous, but fact is he is playing CM.

thinking of ways we will be using our players, since mourinho want to keep on adding forwards, and neymar is coming as well.

a true CM needs insane amount of stamina to cover a lot of ground which i think Di Maria has this but the problem is his weak physical abilities and horrible passing accuracy which he lacks at.

Not a real CM but could work as a "Virtual CM" as you've explained.

btw, people thinks we're crazy but they need to know more about Di Maria. he is versatile enough to play at almost every position except defense.

i havent seen him recently but last year he was playing that CM role for argentina and to be honest he looked quite ineffective.

but i cant judge fully since i havent seen him play there recently.

maybe he can play in the LCM role if we play a 4-3-3?

I noticed him at world cup when he played as a rb for some time..Well the performance he gave wasnt that bad at all..

Passing and vision aren't good enough for the CM role. He can get there... but not really part of his personality either right now.

Why would anyone even think this when we have alonso, sahin, khedira, lass (if he doesnt go), gago (if he stays in form), granero, canales

I actually think it could work.
BUT Di Maria needs to pull off a CR and bulk up big time.
He needs to show way more strength on the ball, be more willing to go into 50-50s and he needs to stop diving, FFS.

He has the passing and tackling skills no doubt. It's all down to his strength though.

Plus with no strenght he will keep sucking in FIFA and I'll never use him
