Amy Lewis @SkySportsAmy

LFC have not gone above £18m for Dejan Lovren I'm told. Saints value him as their best player & won't accept less than £25m #LFC #saintsfc
Re: Summer of 2014
Luis Suarez's move to Barcelona could be completed before the end of the weekend, Sky sources understand.
Liverpool are holding out for £80m for their star forward - a sum that would activate a release clause in his contract - while Barcelona hope to lure him for a figure in the region of £60m.
The future of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez is also believed to remain on the agenda, but it is understood the Chile forward will not be used as a makeweight and that any deal would be brokered separately.

If JHW and the board have any balls they'll demand 80 or tell barca to piss off.

Re: Summer of 2014
Is the difference between 71.3m and 80m really huge?
It's time to move on from Suarez, and nobody else is going to pay a ridiculous fee for him right now. Make no mistake either, 90m euros is a ridiculous fee for any player.

^ Agreed.
I'd rather get 72M today, as opposed to 80M in the last week of August (Levy special).
He's gone.

Re: Summer of 2014
Peeps please....Suarez was never going to break that Bale's fee simply because he is 27 year old going to 28 when the Ban is over....so yeah who will pay more than 100 million for a 28 year old?
90 million is actually a ridiculous fee and it is also the expected fee from any one thinking rationally.

Re: Summer of 2014
The biting record is a bigger issue than age of Suarez for the reduction of fee compared with Bale.

Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC 37s
To say a fee is agreed not entirely true. #LFC told Barca they will sell for release clause not for less. Barca say they will meet it

Re: Summer of 2014
Even better. 80m pounds plus the initial 60m that they already had is more money than Liverpool will know what to do with in the transfer window. Literally. Especially if Sanchez refuses to come here.
Hopefully the extra bit of money means they'll pony up and buy Ricardo Rodriguez and solidify our LB position for the next 10 years.

Re: Summer of 2014
Liverpool are not interested in Rodriguez. Let it go. It's not a matter of price, it's a matter of the club feeling he's not entirely proven in the role/level they want (whether you or I or anyone else agrees with them matters not, as they're the ones making the decision).
The LB options being considered are currently Moreno (offered 16m, they want 20m... with 75-80m coming in just pay the extra 4) and Bertrand for 8m.
And this talk of Konoplyanka is absolute nonsense. First and foremost, most of us have never seen more than 3 matches of him in a season. And second, while the hell is he being compared to players in completely different roles? Konoplyanka is no better than Poulsen in CDM or CM, because he's literally never played those positions. He's no better than Heskey in the target/plan B/true CF role because he's never ever played that either. Lallana is also a drastically different player than Konoplyanka even though they can (but do not generally) operate in the same areas. You're comparing apples and condoms. They are not readily comparable on any notable level.

Re: Summer of 2014
I have to say this again, is Moreno and Bertrand are the only LB (who suit our system) in the world!!! This again makes me question how we have prepared for the transfer window (with regards to alternatives to our primary target).
I want our transfers done within July. Though there's 25 days left the workload isn't pretty. With in inevitable and imminent departure of Suarez, we need to sign two quality attackers and there's that question of a quality R/LB.

Re: Summer of 2014
No, but they ARE the only two (available) leftbacks any reliable sources has said we're interested in or considering a move for. The third was Siqueira who has already joined Atletico Madrid this summer.
So while there ARE other potential options, they are NOT being considered by LFC at this time, which is why they aren't being included in discussions about who LFC will sign.

Re: Summer of 2014
Sanchez closing in on Arsenal. :S
If Barcelona were smart they'd wait until deadline day and sign Suarez then. We wouldn't have a say if they meet the release clause, don't have to pay the wages of the player, and hurts a potential CL rival. lol
Anywho, throw all cash at Reus and Kroos. They'd come in for a combined 55m, and we can use the other 20 odd mil to get Shaqiri. Please.

I can't see us getting both and if we did get one, knowing our luck we would prob have to pay 55mil.
Going to be very interesting to see what the club does once Suarez is sold, i'm really looking forward to it, only issue for me is i don't think there is enough available talent out there that we could snatch.

Re: Summer of 2014
Reus has a release clause of around 30M and Kroos price tag of around around 20M too iirc. RM are keen to sign him.
Begs the question on what's happening with Isco and Di Maria? Two players that aren't getting game time there. I woudln't have taken Isco last year, but we're going to lack a lot of creativity and talent in the final third with Suarez gone so he could now be of use. Di Maria obviously is/was a first team player, but lots of reports saying he's going to be replaced or is that the Spanish media talking crap? I don't know, but this is the talent of players we should be targeting...
EDIT: Gotze is another one Bayern's not enitrely happy with and Pep not a fan. He's proved at Dortmund he can thrive in the type of football we want to play... just can't seem to get into the rhythm of Pep's way.

Isco will get found out in the PL. Not to mention, you already have players in similar mold (maybe i am mistaken). Why not go after players like Draxler, Greizman, Depay? Wingers who can mirror Sterling? The type who can cut in the box and shoot/find the open man?

Re: Summer of 2014
The only "creative" player in the final third right now is Coutinho who struggled in the second half of the season. He was supposed to be 'found out' too. Can't think of anyone remotely close to who else is similar tbh.
We have a lot of very inexperienced / young players in final third. They all have the potential to be great. (Coutinho, Suso, Sterling to name a few.) So we really need quality that can deliver asap as well as improve.
Depay is great, but he's still not ready I don't think think. Signing Draxler would be for a massive fee, and like Markovic he's still really really raw as a player. You're buying potential for these type of players, and we already have way too much 'potential' at the club. For the same price we could get a player that's already 'ready' which is what we actually need.
Players like Gotze, and Reus, are already the made* product who can further themselves and get better. They're at the same footballing maturity age we signed Luis, really. Shaqiri would be the only "inexperienced" player I would want Liverpool to sign as I'd have him in the same tier as James Rodriguez. :X
Sturridge can also be prone to injury, so we can't really rely on him either. The whole Suarez move is a mess, especially given who we're currently targeting.
*By made, I mean capable to actually deliver straight away.

You're blaming this on Ayre?
And you claim I "make stuff up".
The only thing Ayre does is negotiate for players. He plays NO PART in scouting / which players we target. That would be the chief scout / Rodgers.

Well this video in itself is a good example of how you saw things and how it was a pure conjecture of your mind rather than the truth. And as for evidence well my computer ain't working so I have to come by the phone thus its difficult to quote and go through past posts. But it's a guarantee that as soon as I do I would come with some of your relics

Re: Summer of 2014
It's not Ayre's fault the players we target, but buying someone like Lallana for £25m isn't great negotiating and that's probably Ayre's biggest responsibility in transfers, negotiating the deals.
So far I haven't thought it's been a bad window, even if we sell Suarez. We overpaid for Lallana, but he is a good player. Lambert was a good addition for that price and Can should be a good piece of business.
However, the latest signs are worrying and can potentially make the window feel a lot worse for me personally:
Lovren. Why are we so keen on buying half of Southampton's team, I don't know. Lazy scouting and having to seriously overpay.
Sanchez. If he goes to Arsenal, this will feel just awful. If he's willing to leave Spain and come to England, but we cannot get him even though we are selling Suarez to Barcelona... I would understand if City, Chelsea or United were in for him, because they can and often will offer bigger wages than us, but if in these Suarez-deal circumstances we lose out to Arsenal over Sanchez, that would be such a downer.

Re: Summer of 2014
as I wrote previously, If you are going to sign player like Sanchez, you have to offer something attractive, some genuine promises of signing other players + probably good wages; otherwise no player would want to come to a club who finished 7th in one season and 2nd in the next season, so they know that we are still in the process of rebuilding and not yet an established one with a young coach; this is made clear by loss of Suarez.
Reus, Kroos will not be so easy to sign; specially when a club like Madrid are in and I am sure if Reus is available, others will jump in too. Sometimes I am thinking, are we really missing DoF that badly in transfer market? I am just waiting where we will go from here
