Don't see why Madrid fans are complaining about the ref, even Marca said Ramos' tackle on Costa at the 12th minute was a penalty...

If Barca win today the table will look like

1. Madrid 64
2. Barca 63
3. Atletico 61

With 12 games, Barca-Atleti and Madrid-Barca still left to go. Exciting.

Anyway, great game from a neutral perspective but Carlo cost us this game by playing both Arbeloa AND Coentrao. Playing one is fine because the other fullback (Marcelo or Dani) can still act as an outlet and relieve pressure from Xabi and Modric. Granted both Dani and Marcelo had shaky moments but with them playing we looked like a completely different team.

Ref was bad for both teams, Miranda should have been sent off, and Costa could have had a penalty. Both Raul Garcia and Pepe disgraced themselves but when Ronaldo gets a three game ban for tapping a guy no wonder players feel that it's worth it to play act.

Di Maria was utter shite, Benzema was OK I guess but he still can't get involved in high intensity games. Bale became more involved when Dani came on and he tracked back exceptionally through out the game, has got to do more offensively though imo.

Isco was brilliant, should be playing more. Shame Illarra and Jese didn't play, they would have helped.

Anyway a bitter pill to swallow since Atleti looked like the dominant team in the first half but I'll gladly take the draw under the circumstances. We're still leaders and we have 7 home games and 5 away games to go, if we can safely navigate the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and Anoeta we have a really big shot at the league.

Btw Simeone should've brought on the subs much earlier. He tried to park the bus by bringing on Rodriguez but between when he indicated to the ref and when he actually came on Madrid somehow managed to get a goal, I doubt he would have put him on if he knew Madrid were about to score.

Carlo made a mistake by benching Marcelo and Carvajal. he realized it in second half. Coentrao and Arbeloa should never start instead of Marcelo and Carvajal.

Nothing Atletico did was as disgusting as Pepe and Ronaldo with their dramatics.

Raul Garcia on his own topped anything Ronaldo or Pepe did.

Both teams gave each other as good as they got. Singling one team out is stupid when both of them were disgracing themselves.

That was Atleti's game plan from the start though and our hot heads fell for it like suckers.

Simeone knew we were on top of them at that time. He needed fresh legs to be able to withstand our surge. Besides he is a coach, he can tell Rodriguez to go and sit back down lol

The precedent for this is a red and a three game ban for Godin though

(For the record yellow for both is the correct decision).


Interesting how in games against Barca if we just touch Barca players it's a foul but when we play Atleti refs just let tackles fly in unpunished. Pretty frustrating tbh :\

Yh I agree Pepe got a deserved yellow for that simulation but if Ronaldo got a red for brushing somebody's face with his tiny facial hair then so should Godin. Lets face it this one was worse than that of Ronaldo and Godin only saw a yellow

the issues today was mainly fullbacks carlo get the blame for this, it just seemed so unnecessary at least one of marcelo/carvajal but both just shows that carlo just wants everyone to see he "exists" and he did the same against barca but players were in poor form so i could understand that.

When we come up against any more big teams carlo needs to play his best 11 and give them better instructions like "defend more" instead of just benching them

pepe and ramos partnership needs to be broken up and both should be sold imo, every time the game gets intense they go brain dead seriously, they spent most of the match fighting atleti players than actually defending we could've conceded a penalty or 2 and im sure other teams are watching and already planning to rile them up and you know their gonna fall for it.

Lastly I was very disappointed in xabi he is leader on the pitch he needs to keep the team on track, not fouling and kicking like the cb, i know these games can be hot tempered but he needs to rise above that.

But it's not untrue that up to the goal he was invisible. And you have no problem crucifying di Maria who was basically 90% responsible for the first goal.

We have conceded 3 out of the 5 goals we have conceded since start of 2014 from that side and all with Coentrao on the pitch. I don't know who was supposed to pick up Koke ill have to watch it again but damn he was completely unmarked

how much more force do you want it to have for it to be a headbutt??? it was a clear headbutt but not one to warrant that reaction from Pepe

Di Maria was terrible, lost the ball in dangerous areas trying to dribble multiple Atleti players, played wayward passes, didn't follow any runners from midfield. I can't praise him for anything other than he ran a lot, however I doubt he ran more than any Atleti midfielders so even that wasn't of much use.

CR's job is to do the business when the games get tough. He has a long history of doing that for us and he stays true to form tonight.

Psh, the ref was a non entity for me, man had a hard task anyway. Starting Arby/Coentrao was/is my biggest beef.

Anyway fair play to Atleti, they have to do everything they can to compete, even if it means acting like heroes even though they are the dirtiest team in Europe. I don't like it but I can't hold their desire to compete despite their shitness against them.

Not sure what you're trying to say here? Isco looked dangerous and we played much better when he was on.

In contrast this was Di Maria's worst game this season since his "masterclass" in the Madrid Derby at the Bernabeu where he was equally bad.

Can't use one game to judge a player but if we meet Atleti again this season I hope Di Maria doesn't play, at least not at the Calderon.
