Ibi : Ibrahim Afellay
Top talent, and I like that as a sub he can play in many positions.

Re: Ibrahim Afellay
At this age, we shouldn't call him a talent anymore. Do you think he really has a future at the club? With Cuenca and Tello, who are both younger and Masía kids, coming through the ranks (and having Messi, Villa, Sanchez and Pedro around) I don't see any chances for Ibi. Not up front, but def. not on midfield either.
Re: Ibrahim Afellay
Would love to see how he fits in with this current squad, he is pretty well rounded i think and probably has a statement to prove on the pitch when hes back ! I disagree about him not having a place simply for finding good Masia players, where does this attitude end, we are pretty lucky to have a great set of young players from the Barca school, but not on the account of all the signings, it should depend on "survival of the strongest" ofc.

Re: Ibrahim Afellay
I understand the concern, I also feel it will be very difficult for him to make it. In fact I almost always thought he'd excel more elsewhere. He's been unlucky, so I hope he gets his break and plays well. Always been a favourite of mine before Barca.
By talent, I mean he can blossom into a great player. Age has no effect on this. Some players reach their full potential early, others don't. Afellay still has learning to do, and still is not the player he could become.

Tremendously unlucky this season. With the injuries we had this season and with Pedro’s drop of form it was his chance to shine.
Being a great Netherlands fan and having seen him performing in national games I can only say I love him at his best

Re: Ibrahim Afellay
A good player, that I always felt could give more as a midfielder than winger.
Gives us speed and long shot. With confidence, I think he could show a better ball control that he was lacking. A useful rotation player that I would have liked him to take Keita's minutes, but that's just impossible.
I have a lot of doubts of his cotinuity now that the wings will be very crowded, and specially with a perfect replacement like Tello. He is a likely candidate to be out this summer if someone will splash some bucks. Would be good that he can play some games before the season ends, so he can prove himself and either claim a spot in the squad or raise his sale value.

I don't think he has a future at the club (I would prefer him over Cuenca/Tello and maybe even the current Pedro, but I don't think his recurrent injuries will let him make himself a place in the squad), but I think Ibi should get some playing time so he can be "revalued". Either way, buying him for 3M and offloading him for 12M would be a great business.

Re: Ibrahim Afellay
Play him another season (as Tello needs to develop just pone more season) and see how things go. If he is feeling happy with the club and performing well then we must consider of letting him stay or otherwise sell him through the games he has played. If we can get a bit of business for this talent, it will be an 'achievement' for Barca with the way how we lose our money.

Re: Ibrahim Afellay
I'd like to see him stay another season. If he doesn't get injured again then I would prefer him to Cuenca/Tello- both of them are young and raw, they could use another season in training and not so much on the big stage. He never got a chance and to be honest I can still see him getting quite a few minutes even if it is as a sub. I've always liked him as a player and if he wasn't so unlucky with injuries I think he could have had a successful role in Barca.
As for selling him...considering he can stay fit and get some games in- I don't think we'll have much of a problem getting some money for him, he's quite talented and I think most mid-top level sides would be interested in him and we could easily get from 7-12 million for him.
BTW- third video @ about 1:45 I think...

Re: Ibrahim Afellay
Superb for Holland before his injury, not just a starter, but from the 3 games I watched the best or second best player in those games.
Injury killed him, but if he can get back soon and get some minutes I think he can make Euro's.
I think he can perform well there and if he does, either he comes back next season and gets a chance or he value increases and we sell. I would prefer we keep him, but I understand if that isnt the case.

Re: Ibrahim Afellay
How much will anyone offer him? Liverpool and Tottehman were offering him 9 to 11 million though with his injury they would probably offer him 4 million. A full season with regular starts or sub on, we might see that 11 million mark again...Mr_Puyol wrote:Give him one full season, would be bs if they let him go in the summer.

Afellay, who recovers from a knee injury since September and started with ball exercises, could next week join the group on training. [md]

Re: Ibrahim Afellay
Such a shame he got injured same time as Villa, he would of got a big chance to really stamp himself.
As it is, im happy he is back and I hope before the end of the season he can get games under his belt. I dont expect him to be much of a factor overall for us this season though.

Barcelona without a dutchman is not really Barcelona. You need one there all be it if its the baggage handler or the boots cleaner or one playing football.
