Di Marzio wrote:The advances for Miralem Pjanic have been rejected, at least until June. Roma’s plan is very clear: they will not start any negotiations to sell the Bosnian midfielder in January. The giallorossi’s objective is to renew Pjanic’s contract and then evaluate the situation in June. The fact that Pjanic is not available in January has been reiterated, Roma won’t change their minds.

According to Le Parisien, Menez is now considering moves to AC Milan or Fiorentina and PSG are kicking the tire on a possible purchase of Konoplyanka oh Shaktar Donetzk... not sure they need to replace him tbh.

Ofcourse Kroos will sign a new deal.

As usual the silly media speculation when the talks of contract renewals crops up.

means nothing, sure roma would like to have a guy like pastore, but he cant play in the 433 they usually operate in. So still not good for them, unless Garcia wants to break something he worked on since he arrived there.

Every time the word contract is mentioned, the world media go mad and predict every player who hasn't re-signed will leave.

Of course 95% of the time they renew, but the media look great for calling it early. Proud

Roma are owned by a US hedge fund guy... the way he thinks is not primarily football.  He thinks about return on investment (IRR actually; but i don't want to get into that).  So if he can sell a player at a huge profit and replace him relatively ok, he'll take that.  Until Roma/Serie A economics change enough so that Pallotta feels he can expect returns without this policy, it will keep going...  unfortunately for Roma.  For example, new revenue stream from a new stadium and a better media deal would allow him to invest more without compromising returns.  But then again, with a new stadium project, he's going to look for ways to finance it too. Very typical approach of someone from this kind of background.  Pretty clear where this was headed after selling Marquinhos and Lamela.

This is about money primarily for Pallotta. Not saying he doesn't love footy... but he won't compromise his personal good business practices for anything.

1) Roma's owner has previous experience in owning sports teams... he's as much about success in the trophy cabinet as he is in the bank accounts.

2) Roma's owner isn't one who runs things directly himself. He's openly admitted he's not as familiar with footy as he'd like to be, and generally leaves much of the running to those within the club. So he's not the one decided who comes and who goes.
