MILAN – Only four days left before the reigning Italian champions get back to work.

Since Silvio Berlusconi became president of Milan, the Rossoneri squad have been put through their pre-season paces 25 times. Tuesday will be the 26th. More importantly, the team have started training for the new season with the league title sown on their chests 7 times. Tuesday will be the 8th.

On Tuesday 12 July, president Berlusconi himself may make an appearance at Milanello to say welcome back to the players. Since the turn of the century, the President has been present and accounted for on the first day of pre-season training in July 2000 and then from 2007-2010.

By his side, as always, will be Adriano Galliani. The club CEO, a man with an indisputable emotional bound with the Rossoneri cause, has only missed the first day of pre-season training on one single occasion, in 2006, a year that is still making the news in Italian football.

For some of the current squad, this will be the first pre-season at Milanello. Kevin Prince Boateng, Urby Emanuelson, Mark Van Bommel, Taye Taiwo, Philippe Mexes and Stephan El Shaarawy. It would be the first time as well for Ibrahimovic, Cassano and Robinho, but the Brazilian is playing in the Copa America and the other two forwards will join up with the group on 18 July, having finished last season 2 weeks late due to international commitments.

The team veteran this year will be Massimo Ambrosini: This is his 15th pre-season.

Its been a while since we have seen our red and black jerseys,pre season starts today

Pippo and Paloschi to lead Milan against Solbiatese
FILIPPO INZAGHI and his heir will start in the attack of Milan this evening.

Milan take on Solbiatese Arno Calcio for the first friendly game of the season when the clock points 18:00 at Felice Chinetti di Solbiate Arno and Massimiliano Allegri is thinking about the 11 he would line-up.

The 4-3-1-2 will probably be kept and according to the latest rumours, 20-year-old Alberto Paloschi will be joined by his idol, 37-year-old Filippo Inzaghi in the attack of the Rossoneri this evening.


Stephan El Shaarawy will not play as he’s having a minor knee problem; Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Antonio Cassano will also be given some minutes to show they are in shape, despite returning on Monday.

It will not be a surprise if Milan win in a double digit score.
