Actually I took it as more that he's not invited to the party. It's becoming patently obvious he's going to be a peripheral, bit-part member of the squad this season if he stays. Drogba's being brought on against Burnley over him was nothing if not a sign from Mourinho to exactly that effect; so as to say, "right, the days of you getting automatic token minutes just because you were forked out £50m on are over, and even this 36-year-old pensioner is a better option to throw on than you." Completely endorse it, myself.
