Cafu vs Roberto Carlos

Cafu is my fav fullback ever. Complete player.

RC is second . Between the 2 overall i'd take Cafu but both of them are great.

Cafu for me. I actually prefer Roma Cafu over others, even Brazil. He was given freedom like no other on that flank, basically just go out there, chewing gum and being a boss.

I do like Carlos as he was a beast at left back but Cafu was better at his peak.

The answer is clearly Cafu & its not even close IMO.

Cafu was much better defensively & more effective going forward. This is no contest. Roberto Carlos was very weak defensively, especially at the highest level.

Roberto Carlos's image has undoubtedly suffered in direct co-relation to his rather alarming decline in his latter years. Apart from his meh performances at the WC 06, he was directly responsible for Roy Makaay's 12 sec goal for Bayern Munchen vs Madrid in the Round of 16. Still the fact remains that he was an absolute monster down the left for Madrid for the best part of 11 years.

I particularly remember his performance at Old Trafford in 2000, the game which is (rightly) remembered for Redondo's genius. He kept both a prime Beckham and Gary Neville in his back pocket and just rampaged up and down the left hand side for the duration of the 90 mins.
I dont think anyone apart from Puskas could/has ever hit a football harder than this man with the abnormally thick thighs.

P.S: his free-kicks are WAY over-rated though
