Cafu vs Roberto Carlos

Who was the better player overall in their careers?

Tough one tbh. I'd go with Roberto Carlos.

Cafu.

Better defender.

Both at their peak powers for a really long time, maybe Cafu slightly more and maybe its true Roberto Carlos was the smallest margin better at his best but I think Cafu would fit into every single team, whereas Carlos, you have to make concessions to get his best without compromising the team defensively.

Cafu, an absolutely monster at both ends of the pitch.

Cafu imo was much better defensively than Carlos so I would take him in my team.

Respect to Carlos too, one of the greatest in his position.

Carlos was good going forward but was average defensively. Made his name from his attacking game. Would not even get into my 7th xi.

Cafu unarguably the more balanced of the two but Carlos IMO was a monster beast physically and technically when it came to attacking. I guess he'd also be the more hyped player if both them were playing today.

Carlos at his peak was a monster. better than Cafu.

Cafu for me, that guy was amazing.

I watched both in their prime, Cafu wins it for me, good in defense and in offense, great crosser of the ball, good technique and speed. Alves on steroids...

Roberto Carlos was great in attack, overlapped really well, great speed, had those powerful long-range shots (most of them inaccurate though), but he had defensive issues. I would say he was a Marcelo with greater physical qualities and better shot.

Marcelo is better than RC technique wise. Way better.

It's closer than people give credit, but Cafu was better.

Loved Roberto Carlos, but he had big lapses. For example, he decided to tie his shoe during Zizou's free kick in WC 2006... the area he left vacated was where Henry scored. Why in the world would you take yourself out of the game to tie your shoe then?

He was mostly great... but had inexplicable moments like that.

Cafu was much better balanced... although he had some brainfarts too.

Carlos was super rich mans Bale in his LB days.

Its pretty funny how RC is more of a legend outside of Brazil.The Henry goal really messed up his image here

That doesn't really factor in much. R9 left Brazil when he was 18 and he's one of the biggest legends ever.

In Brazil, they rate you on how you perform in the selecao and RC had some massive brainfarts there.

Sports he is generally ovverated tbh.

Cafu is the best RB of all time, how is he not going to be the bigger legend lol look at what the guy has done throughout his career in Sao Paulo,at the Nt and at Milan.Dude has won EVERYTHING and a bit more.2 libertadores,2 WCs,3 CWC,CL.....

Its not that surprising tbh, while Carlos had his horrible moments in key times fact of the matter is he came up with some absolute iconic moments when that happens you are obviously going to be hyped a lot.

Cafu was the best. Some people call him an attacking full-back, but that would be severely understating his defensive prowess. He could play in all areas down the wing and never stopped running. He was a legendary player of the modern era who played at a high level consistently for a long, long time.

Credit to RC who was also a beast player.

Cafu is my fav fullback ever. Complete player.

RC is second . Between the 2 overall i'd take Cafu but both of them are great.
