Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Yeah. He makes 6 mil a year. Horrible contract. Madrid were offering to bump him up to 8 mil, which would put him only behind CR7, Iker and the incoming Bale. Instead, he was asking for 15 mil gross, which is more than CR7Toffer Harley wrote:quite the opposite. he realized he has absolutely no lobby in madrid and doesn't wanna act in some crappy soap opera where inferior players get the lead roles. on top of that, real never showed appreciation for what he's done by giving him an adequate contract. a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. anybody who lets that fat clown perez ruin your world cup is simply an idiot.sportsczy wrote:Ozil's really a girly man... imagine if Higuain, Benzema, Di Maria or Marcelo had his attitude. Weak-minded player it looks like. Very disappointing.
Truly unbelievable given how inconsistent he's been in the last 2 years...
And then, he comes out with this soft dribble...

which was more than CR7 and you forgot about a certain kaka. and can throw random numbers into the mix, nobody was at the negotiations. well informed papers in germany claim mustafa özil wanted 7 million. fact is, real payed him bad considering his value.sportsczy wrote:Yeah. 7 mil net. That's 15 mil gross in Spain. When you have EC, Cadena Ser and AS all saying the same thing, there's truth in it.
We'll know for sure once his Arsenal wage is released.

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
He wanted 7 net and he was refused the request. rightly so. The club didn't offer him 8 mill
don't know how much bale makes but he probably gets something in that region. something he doesn't deserve but thats a story for another day

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Ozil was earning 5 millions net in madrid, that's £150k per week in the uk. what a terrible contract. No way he deserved more, maybe a little bump, but not 7 millions net.
Honigstein reported yesterday that his wages at arsenal will clock in at about £200,000 k per week with all the clauses in his contract.

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
well, he says that he changed his mind because he didnt play last weekend but, the reason he was benched in the first place was because he wasnt working hard enough. he started the first two games, got subbed and told off in both because his work rate was pathetic and Ancelotti was promoting effort to the players. The benching was to teach him a lesson but he decided to leave because of that?
well, i am just as much disappointed in him.

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
wait I thought this transfer was about Ancelotti's and Zidane's well thought plan about 'balancing' the squad by sacrificing Ozil. Now it's all about Ozil being greedy/chickened out/run away?
some of you guys really would believe in whatever you want to believe to justify this transfer wouldn't you

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Higuain, Callejon, Albiol and Carvalho all left with dignity.
I had a lot of respect for Ozil. He either needed to say nothing or say "I wanted to play in my preferred position" or something like that... but to come out and say that "i left because the manager didn't trust me" is just wow. Sorry... i have a hard time with this.
Kaka... he lost me after he lied about his injury in the the summer of 2010 so he could go to the WC. Injury got worse and he never became the same. I respect the Milan Kaka a lot. But the Madrid Kaka was poor in almost every sense AND he blocked Canales and Sarabia. Probably Jese too if he hadn't left..

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
No. It made no sense.
-Sell Ozil, possibly the best #10 in the world, Real Madrids most creative player and 2nd best player overall only after Ronaldo.
-Buy Bale for literally 4x what he would be worth in a normal market. A one dimensional counterattacking player that is basically Ronaldo-lite.
-Isco is good but to be honest not even close to Ozil.
-Now for 4 starting spots they have Ronaldo, Isco, Bale, Benzema, Di Maria, and Modric can play there too when needed. Might be forgetting someone but either way thats not very good depth.
So overall, it was a gigantic mistake.

not if he is using Arsenal as a stepping stone for another move that wouldn't have happened had he still been with usMr Nick09 wrote:It's Ozil that will regret leaving Madrid

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
Özil is the biggest and the best transfer story this last 2 days. Özil stole the show from Bale.
Only other transfer would have topped Ozil would have been Bendtner.

Had more to do with Arsenal actually buying a world class player for a lot of money tbhRaptorgunner wrote:Özil is the biggest and the best transfer story this last 2 days. Özil stole the show from Bale.

Iniesta's successor in 3 years when Özil will be in his prime. Arsenal Barcelona's official feeder club.halamadrid2 wrote:not if he is using Arsenal as a stepping stone for another move that wouldn't have happened had he still been with usMr Nick09 wrote:It's Ozil that will regret leaving Madrid

Re: Did it make sense for Real Madrid to sell Ozil?
precisely why I think he chose Arsenal over PSG who would have held him hostage had he wanted to leave in a year or two. I think Barca are waiting in the wing for the seasons to conclude so that they can put in a bid for him which wouldn't be considered hostile as he isn't going straight from Real to BarcaMr Nick09 wrote:well, that's completely different aint it? i do think he will jump shit in about 2 years, united or bayern awaiting.

Ozil barely just fits Iniesta's position, so can't see it happening.
