Rossi: Juve the worst opponents...
Sampdoria boss Delio Rossi would have preferred an easier start to the new campaign than taking on champions Juventus.
The two teams will meet at Marassi on Saturday night as the Old Lady look to begin their quest for a third straight Scudetto with three points in Week 1.
“To be honest, we couldn’t have been given a worse opponent on the opening day of the season, but we will play our own game against a team who we beat twice last term,” he noted.
“They’ve bought some international class players, people who are used to playing in European competition such as Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, Angelo Ogbonna too. They are all champions.”
Rossi has named a 24-man squad for the game, but he has yet to decide on which 11 players will start the tie.
“I need to decide who will replace the suspended Vasco Regini and Renan Garcia. I still have a few doubts.”
He did, however, confirm that Angelo Da Costa would get the gloves after Sergio Romero joined Monaco.
“Romero has gone, he has made his decision and we wish him well,” he noted. “But we have great faith in our goalkeeper Da Costa.”
He added: “We are a good side, with a squad which corresponds to our objective, but we can’t truly be judged until we have played some games.”
