Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
Bale isn't marketable currently, however he has the potential to be if he joins.

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
I gotta study now...
I trust Perez to make this a good "off-the-pitch" deal.
He's done it before and will do it again...
However, the proof is in the pudding, and until Bale actually signs and spends time there to actually show his marketability, nothing can be proved. I'll pick up this discussion again at that point.
Also, Fear not Cyberman, United is still our favorite feeder club... You haven't been forgotten.
(I'm assuming that's what is really agitating... Deep down)

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
you will never see a fan trying to explain that appalling football sense he has. back in the day Valdano said after asking Perez to make a startling line up for Madrid he had Beckham as a RB because he had too many attacking playersThe_Badger wrote:Perez's business acumen that has seen him become wealthy is irrelevant. His approach to football is mind-boggling. His ego and delusions has seen him employ a policy of paying excessive fees for players whether the club needs them or not. This has often come at the detriment of team harmony and has seen players become disillusioned due to simply not being big names or having the right face for his project; Makalele for example. Not signing Viera due to high wages is another.halamadrid2 wrote:@ the badger. Perez is a self made billionaire and saved us from potentially going into bankruptcy. He knows how to make money be it for Madrid or himself. Bale is going to be a 'risk' because if he flops he has nothing to fall back on. And its a risk perez is willing to take
RM fans may overlook the lack of success he's actually brought on the pitch and highlight his Galatico purchase and rattle on about marketing, but for all the money he has spent RM have massively underachieved with him.
fact of the matter he shouldn't get invloved in the football business because lasy time he did he pissed off nearly the whole team with his presence (under vdb). he has been pretty distant these past few years and has added players of the coaches choice
as you might remember we finished our transfer businesses before the preseason started so that it gives carlo enough time to integrate them. He has spent the rest of the time to pursue bale who will probably play sparingly like neymar until he becomes fully integrated as we are not exactly desperately in need of him atm
he is improving slowly and slowly. The only way madrid fans will accept this transfer is if he was bought to displace Benz and not Ozil who is important to us. we will have to wait and see what they have in mind for him

Perez will inevitably get involved with the footballing side because that's the nature of footballing politics at clubs like RM.

Real Madrid logic: Don't achieve your tournament goal - go buy at least one star player to please your fans.

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
I would more trust Perez than anyone here when it comes to number crunching. Not that I doubt anyone here intelligence but you lovely gents are not currently the President of Real Madrid.
Speaking of which, Perez's football acumen is quite limited hence me doubting the hell out of this potential transfer. Too much tactical conundrums to point out and I've yet to see if Bale can handle the psychological pressure of being the most expensive footballer ever. With that being said, before Perez, the club had Lorenzo Sanz and Mendoza, both were in charge during our more successful years, both knew football and how to create proper footballing teams. They both also ran the club into the proverbial ground financially, more so Sanz than Mendoza.
Perez is pretty clueless when it comes to football but he knows how to keep the club financially sound. Hence why I think most "sensible" Real Madrid fans aren't too phased by the price but the more the sense in how the football would be affected.

Well done you overpaid by 40m instead of 50m.
Perez should be given great praise for negotiating this bargain of a deal.
What a mastermind.

£75m isn't 100m, so it doesn't sound too bad. But it's still a bit too much.

I can't blame Bale for this, it's not like he's making Madrid pay so much for him
