Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
Players paying for transfer fees in shirt sales is a myth.teamanarchy wrote:Kaka actually did pay his fee off... Yes.
Oh, and €10 off every shirt leads to pretty high numbers, when you're selling millions of them...
Furthermore, shirt sales are only part of the merchandising that Bale brings...
It is standard for the Madrid hierarchy to include a deal for players' image rights in their contracts... Often as high as 40%.
So, when you go buy FIFA 14 later this year, you're making Bale some dosh, and guess who else? That's. right... Madrid...
Furthermore, Gareth will be playing in the UCL... A big deal for his own sponsorship deals, putting him in higher demand, which means what Cyberman?
That's right... Money...
When you become a self-made billionaire like Perez, then please, feel free to criticize his business strategies... Until then, maybe your high school economics education should stop with its delusions of grandeur

in fans eyes he is not a galactico but in Perez' eyes he is hence the humongous feecyberman wrote:Can u answer my post? Much appreciated. You're signing an non galatico on galatico levels.
earlier in the window Perez said:
again id trust him over any fan“Regarding the figures spoken about Bale, players are neither cheap nor expensive, but an investment. Most expensive players are those that can be classified as an investment because, if they are very good, they produce a return

RM fans have deluded themselves into thinking Perez is Simon Cowell-like simply because he bought the best and player on the planet a few years back and recouped his fee in merchandise sales.

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
I remember when Bayern signed Thiago (or Barça let him go, whichever you want to see it), The Franchise came up with a very solid explanation of his feelings:
Looks like most Madrid fans are still on stage oneThe Franchise wrote:The 5 Stages of Loss and Grief:
1. Denial and Isolation
2. Anger
3. Bargaining
4. Depression
5. Acceptance
Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
Bale already played in the cl. Handed the defending champs their ass if u remember. What image rights lol? Bale has no image. FIFA 14 deal is already in place I presume so Madrid can't touch that. Literally nothing. Madrid are involved in a dick swinging contest with barca over naymar and that's all there is. There's no long term arc here. What's happened is madrid are buying someone that not one person.. Not one.. Ever said was a marketing project waiting to happen. You lot literally made that up when its obvious you're buying him. Plucked out of the sky.

Kaka was able to live off his Balondor when he flopped. Of course if Bale flops it will be a blow to Perez because he has nothing to lean on to but Bale is a hardworker I am sure he will come good

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
I think the fifa cover is not the official one but temporary. it would be so cool if they changed it so that he has a Madrid shirt on Barca got Neymar big deal. Perez had already set his sights on Bale from last season.cyberman wrote:Bale already played in the cl. Handed the defending champs their ass if u remember. What image rights lol? Bale has no image. Too much football is boring for Perez and we haven't bought a player Perez could work on in the whole Mou reign so he needed this
also bale is not a regular in CL which actually matters in sponsorship deals believe it or not

He's got great footballing qualities,
Good-looking (now that he has normal ears), makes headlines pretty much daily in every news source from here to Timbaktu, he's the new face of FIFA 14, his face was plastered on time square, New York (a massive potential investment in the US)...
He's almost the epitome of a Galatico. Just because he isn't coming from our standard feeder club (Utd), doesn't mean he's now a nobody...

Perez didn't become a billionaire through RM though, so your logic is stupid.
The idea that someone who may have been successful through business is somehow flawless when it comes to running a football club is stupid too.
You only need see countless clubs being bankrolled by wealthy individuals/groups to see this.
What's more, Perez himself has said this fee is too much, yet is still going ahead with it.

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
Lol he's on the cover of the British FIFA, if he moves he won't be anymore. It's a FIFA *bleep* up. Picking random articles from a google search doesn't back up your point. He's not making headlines, he has all this so called exposure yet santi carzola is more of a shirt seller than he is. It actually backs up my point if anything. And no.. Monkey man is not good looking lol

hge meant remaking the money. Perez used different ways to get Ronaldo's money back, why can't he use it on Bale?The_Badger wrote:Perez didn't become a billionaire through RM though, so your logic is stupid.

@ the badger. Perez is a self made billionaire and saved us from potentially going into bankruptcy. He knows how to make money be it for Madrid or himself. Bale is going to be a 'risk' because if he flops he has nothing to fall back on. And its a risk perez is willing to take

If you're incapable of seeing the difference between Ronaldo and Bale prior to their move to RM, then there is really no point in me attempting to explain it to you.aleumdance wrote:hge meant remaking the money. Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
Exactly. If you remember, after his initial appearances in the CL, Bale almost instantly became the most talked about player in the world at the time. Now imagine him back... Only this time with Madrid and a hope of actually winning it.cyberman wrote:Bale already played in the cl. Handed the defending champs their ass if u remember. What image rights lol? Fifa 14 deal is done, yes... But so was Ronaldo's Nike deal, Kaka's Sony and Adidas deals... Won't stop us from capitalizing...
You really don't know merc law do you?
However, Cyberman, I do agree with you that this is essentially a Madrid Barca pissing contest... But so what? Both teams have always operated like that. That's what makes them so good.
And no, we made nothing up.
Perez's financial success at the club speaks for itself
Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
Just one of a number of marketability ploys that Bale is in the process of... He's branding himselfThe_Badger wrote:Wow! UK Esquire! Balotelli made the cover of SI.teamanarchy wrote:http://www.esquire.co.uk/culture/sport/4243/Gareth-Bale-August-2013/

Re: Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2
Perez's business acumen that has seen him become wealthy is irrelevant. His approach to football is mind-boggling. His ego and delusions has seen him employ a policy of paying excessive fees for players whether the club needs them or not. This has often come at the detriment of team harmony and has seen players become disillusioned due to simply not being big names or having the right face for his project; Makalele for example. Not signing Viera due to high wages is another.halamadrid2 wrote:@ the badger. Perez is a self made billionaire and saved us from potentially going into bankruptcy. RM fans may overlook the lack of success he's actually brought on the pitch and highlight his Galatico purchase and rattle on about marketing, but for all the money he has spent RM have massively underachieved with him.
