Poor thing...they're underpaid, don't attract much attention, is hardly heard or seen during matches or interviews

Probably no one can really tell if they make a difference in matches

The improving defence methodology and skills of defenders have made goalkeepers an invisible element

I don't even remember the name of a single Premier League goalkeeper now except Krul

Actually I have put together banners for GL (following BC's design) with Manuel Neuer, Nadine Angerer and Gigi Buffon, but RG wants to boycott them because these are "too many GKs" Sad

TBH I think all footballers that aren't forwards go underappreciated.
What defender really gets headlines besides Hummels two seasons ago, or Pique, and the latter mostly for banging Shakira.

GK legends are widely respected, people don't underappreciate the likes of Buffon, Casillas, Neuer - or in the past Kahn, Van der Sar etc. - just look at all the praise Cech got when Chelsea fluked their way to the UCL win.

Also, every team needs only one main goalkeeper but needs several midfielders etc. This shows there's not much goalkeeper jobs available. For example a midfielder can even play as defender or forward at times, but goalkeeper can only play as goalie

You are really still new here and obviously never heard of the playmaker goalkeeper Very Happy

Oh, and fun fact: Nadine Angerer has 124 caps for the German NT - and one of these caps she got as outfield player. ^^
